I predict that Carney will listen to Smith's long list of demands, will have absolutely no intention of complying (lest everyone else complain "Why do they get off the hook but not us?"), will nonetheless counter-offer something insultingly inadequate, and will prompt Smith to spearhead a major drive for independence.

Then expect Trump to kick into gear. He will broadcast to the world a littany of benefits to be bestown upon Alberta if they join the US. Trump will shift the context of conversations from "Should Alberta secede?" to "How quickly can Alberta start raking in the HUGE benefits of US statehood?"

Danielle Smith cannot be seen as urging Albertans to join the US. Politically, she needs to appear as though she "has no opinion on the matter." I predict that she will work tirelessly to motivate Albertans to secede, so that she can say "Well, you know, we all love Canada ... BUT ... the people of Alberta just can't take any more of Ottawa and insisted secession be on the 2026 ballot."

Are you asserting that Alberta won't secede, that Alberta won't join the US, or that Alberta will become a State, just not the 51st? Your response "Won't happen" is typical of your style that really doesn't say anything just so you can appear to be correct ... but it doesn't work that way.

I think Alberta will become State #51, prompting Saskatchewan to become State #52.

Well, Canada just elected another leftist dumbass to run their country off the cliff. Why would we want them?

They would be second only to California in Congressional seats, and most of them would be left wing Democrats, and vote themselves huge welfare projects and subsidies, same as California. In fact they would form a bloc with California, and effectively control the budget and laws of the entire country.
