Personally I am surprised that anyone, particularly one who probably knows the port end of a boat from the starboard end, does not realise that ALL politicians lie. Not just Democrats, not just Americans, not just rich or poor or black or white but ALL.
Often they must because the modern press enjoys trying to put them in a corner for a statement before a policy has neen thoroughly debated and decided upon.
You appear extremely naive.
By the way it is bad form to use a soubriquet thrust upon one as a badge of honour. It is tantamount to saying that one is an 'expert'. Expert should only be used in the third person.

Some omit facts...
Some change their views.....
Some offer feeble excuses....
Some actually have legitimate excuses, too
And of course some just lie....like Nancy and Obama.....

You're absolutely right that the press has a big role in our perceptions of truth....because they lie in a big way too, with almost no one to point out when it happens and tell us the truth....
even then, the truth is sometimes ignore if it conflicts with our preconceived beliefs.....

Ah... The old "all politicians are scum" dodge! Man, you guys never tire of that one, do ya? It's the equivalent to Mohamed Ali's "rope a dope" strategy... you lie and mislead people until they complain of your lying and misleading, then you sway back into the ropes and say... but all politicians lie... and we're supposed to not be able to lay a glove on you. Well guess what, the strategy doesn't work anymore, we're electing DROVES of people who are not politicians, they are concerned citizens who've gotten involved, because we can no longer trust the politicians. They call themselves "TEA Party Patriots" and every American who is sick of this shit, can join.

Not at all, Trixie. All politicians lie. All business men would lie too if they had to conduct their discussions under the public gaze.
It is often the case that decisions take a considerable time to get to fruition. The press, eager for the first break, dog the politicians for definitive statements and naturally, the politician must either lie, spin or give half truths.
Can you blame the press? Not really. They have to do what they know sells papers. So, ultimately, blame must rest on those who buy or do not buy those newspapers. That's you and me, my strange little friend. You and me.
Clearly that scenario is beyond the wit of many in the US, hence the growth into an almost credible movement by something that surely started as a joke!
