Liberals Kidnap Boy at Gunpoint

Nearly a dozen members of a police SWAT team in western Colorado punched a hole in the front door and invaded a family's home with guns drawn, demanding that an 11-year-old boy who had had an accidental fall accompany them to the hospital, on the order of Garfield County Magistrate Lain Leoniak.

The boy's parents and siblings were thrown to the floor at gunpoint and the parents were handcuffed in the weekend assault, and the boy's father told WND it was all because a paramedic was upset the family preferred to care for their son themselves.

Someone, apparently the unidentified paramedic, called police, the sheriff's office and social services, eventually providing Leoniak with a report that generated the magistrate's court order to the sheriff's office for the SWAT team assault on the family's home in a mobile home development outside of Glenwood Springs, the father, Tom Shiflett, told WND.

That seems a bit heavyhanded.

It would be justified, however, if they were Christian Scientists. I personally don't believe Christian Scientists should be allowed to have children to abuse.
 
And WHEN Ron Paul is President, maybe this sort of stuff will end.

Seriously, I don't see how it is minor or non news. This sort of militarization of the police is dangerous.

And this is more than "a bit" heavyhanded.

In case the lefty's don't know, I occasionally make posts mocking Dano. I like Dano, but find his notion that liberals are the source of all that is wrong in the world ridiculous. This appears to have happened out in BFE far away from any inner city.

It is still indicative of a disturbing trend. Police and other agents of the state are way out on the edge. They are power mad.

However, this is happening due to the feds funding and providing supplies for these SWAT teams. This place has little use for one and would not likely have one if it were not for federal dollars. The federal money comes in for it, so it means jobs and cool toys if they use it.

Yup, the police state has arrived. When you think about what you have to get permission from the government for, its alarming, then they come to your house and take your children at gunpoint. Yet, its not big enough. $3 trillion federal budget, but for the lefties, this monster is not big enough.

I agree in the sense that federal Homeland Security funds are seen by state and local governments as a nice pot of money that they have to get a piece of regardless of whether there are any remotely possible terrorists targets in their given locale. But blaming federal money on overzealous local authorities in mousefart towns is ridiculous. The overzealous authorities do shit like this because they have the power to do it, not because they got some cool weapons courtesy of the federal government
