'London IS ready': Romney completes humiliating u-turn in new UK charm offensive

He didn't "decide to speak up" about any #%€£ thing! HE WAS ASKED A #%€£¥ QUESTION! Now, if he had stammered and stuttered around, not really giving any kind of coherent answer, the media would have played it as Romney the Dumb #%£, as stupid and inept as Bush! He gave an honest answer and a very objective and well-reasoned response that, as you say, mirrored the concerns of many Brits. This was somehow morphed into an INSULT!

Whoa, cool your jets a little there Dixie. I think I want Romney to win as badly as you do. I certainly don't want another 4 years of Obama, though it is looking more and more like that's what we are going to get. I also, like you I believe, don't think the republicans put up the best of candidates. And that brings me to the point I was making ... Mr. Romney, not being the best candidate the republicans could offer, didn't use much diplomacy in his response.

Romney can't win with the Liberal media, the UK's Liberal media is 10x worse than ours! He should have expected this kind of an ambush... Republicans should expect this kind of ambush! "Conservative Democrats" should certainly be aware that this is what is going on, it's Gotchya Politics 101... the Liberals have nothing to run on.

And I couldn't agree with you more here. Conservatives are never going to please 'those people.' I'm talking about our media specifically but it most definitely applies to almost any foreign media. These people (the buzzards I spoke of) are always going to be circling, looking for some sort of 'gotcha' to use against anyone who is the least bit conservative. I am dealing with that now as I campaign for a Blue Dog to take Dan Boren's spot in the house. It does make one wonder if the republicans had put up the perfect candidate and be had given the perfect, diplomatic response, would the media have found something even in that to harp on? Probably so, simply because the guy is conservative. But the point remains that Romney should have, if capable (again, he's not the best the repubs could've offered), given his response in a more diplomatic fashion.

Do [non Blue Dog] democrats have to deal with the same sort of thing? Sure, but usually only at the hands of the conservative pundits. At least they don't have whole medial outlets against them most of the time...not counting the obvious ally they have in Fox. All one needs to do is to look back of the week of coverage of the Aurora tragedy....or Chick fil A.

No one lied.

Sure, maybe in liberal world lying by omission is not really lying, but I can assure you that the inferences noted by English rags, and American liberals here is indeed dishonest.

It was funny.

Funny? So the election, and prospects of America remaining a free country as opposed to one that is headed toward the failure of Socialism is all for your amusement then....

I'm going to really enjoy the Romney apologism over the next few months, from posters like Dix who didn't even like the guy a few months back.

Well, I gotta side with Dixie...I wasn't doing back flips over Romney either...But I gotta say, that just as liberals were screaming 'anybody but Bush' I feel the same about Obama.

I know...he's not even the nominee yet, and he's already on an apology tour.

Well, you have one thing right, Romney should be absolutely hammering the libs...I would start with basically calling out your deception, then bring it right back to Unemployment, economy, staggering debt, failed green energy, failed foreign policy, etc, etc, etc.

Well, I disagree. Romney is the best candidate the GOP could nominate, because he won the most votes. Everyone had their favorite, many wanted someone other than Romney, but Romney beat all challengers and won the nomination. We had debates. People campaigned. Advertisements were ran. Then we voted, and Mitt Romney won. Regardless of who your candidate was, Romney beat them. He had more support from more republicans that your guy, and that's how the system works. To now try and say they didn't "pick the best candidate" is almost ignorant of how the process works, no one "picks" anything, we vote on who we think is best to represent the GOP against Obama, and Mitt Romney won.

Now... "PERFECT candidate?" and "PERFECT diplomatic response?" That sounds subjective to me, and frankly, unreasonable to expect. From a purely political standpoint, Obama is probably "the perfect candidate." How much better does it get than to have 47% of the vote locked down regardless of anything you do? And as you acknowledge, the media is on their own private campaign to embarrass Romney. It didn't matter WHAT he said! There was no "perfect diplomatic response" ...and the one he gave, was about as damn 'perfect' as they come, in terms of being diplomatic, they TWISTED what he said and MADE it into an insult, and then, blustered in the international media for three days about it. And the result is obvious in people like you, who lap this shit up!

That's what everyone has been saying. It's an interesting political situation... The Dem/Libs have 4 years of shit sandwiches to run on, so their strategy is to constantly keep the debate about Romney, and this includes anything down to what color turds he lays and what is in each one. They don't care how superficial and unimportant it is, that doesn't even matter to them, as long as a 'distraction' can be created, a 'perception' implanted, and time ran off the clock. Romney has to be careful not to fall in the trap of constantly responding to them, because that plays right in to their strategy of making it about Romney. At the same time, if Romney says nothing, they have discovered that relentless and constant pounding for days and weeks on end in the media and blogs, has an effect on the idiots out there.

In my opinion, he doesn't need to respond unless he is asked, and when some smart-ass liberal reporter shoves a mic in his face and demands one, he should tell people, this is a distraction by Chicago thug-style politicians who have nothing to run on. Then he should fire off a list of questions the reporter needs to be asking Obama. Turn every last bit of it into a debate of Obama's record, because THAT is what they don't want to talk about... he should call them on it!
