"As of right now, do you favor or oppose the health care reform proposals presently being discussed?"

Favor 41%
Oppose 47%
Unsure 11%

Now the interesting point is that of the 47% opposed 37% oppose because they belive it does not go far enough, they want the package to be MORE extreem...

If oppose reform proposals (N=535):

"You said you are opposed to the health care reform proposals presently being discussed. Is that because you favor health care reform overall but think the current proposals don't go far enough to reform health care; OR you oppose health care reform overall and think the current proposals go too far in reforming health care?"

Favor
Overall,
Don't Go
Far Enough ........ 37%

Oppose
Overall,
Go Too Far ....... 54%

Unsure ........ 10%

So enough to make a majority favor healthcare reform, they just want it to go further than the Democrats have gone with it.. Like maybe a Public Option.

If you add up the total amount of people wanting this reform or something left of it you definitely get a sizable majority.

And let's be honest. The left-wingers who "oppose" this bill are just playing a gambit. They would be happier under this system than the current worst healthcare system in the world.

How do you explain a Republican senator getting elected in the furthest left state of Mass to stop healthcare reform then?

I've always felt the use of the word "reform" is extremely disingenuous considering that the bulk of this "reform" is really just a large expansion of social welfare spending that will add immensely to the debt when it is already being added to at a record pace. We already pay over $800 billion per year and rising fast for EXISTING government healthcare programs like Medicare and Medicaid and we cannot afford that - it is insane to even propose so called reform that greatly adds to that.

The Democrats are going to turn a positive word like "reform" into something negative - just like they did with the word "welfare".

Wow, when you and I agree on something you know it is fucked up!

It was a lot more than that. A lot of people I talked to about it said that "Martha Coakley would be better for America, Scott Brown for Mass. I don't know what to do."

Also, there is the fact that voters in Mass. already have UHC. People like Chap. made the argument "I don't want to pay for other Americans healthcaere!" It's a pretty ignorant argument, since HCR would undoubtedly be better for their economy than the current state of affairs, but it definitely swayed some ignorant people.

Yeah right. This reform is about the size of Medicare part D, while having much greater effect. We can easily afford it if we'd just raise taxes by about 1%.

What is really interesting is how you ASSUME the people in favor of more reforms, are necessarily in favor of a Public Option! Would anyone venture to guess where Dixie would fall in this poll? Or the majority of the Tea Party folks? I would fall into the category of "not far enough" because I favor Tort Reform, Interstate Commerce, and Portability... all Right-wing suggestions which have been ignored in both bills! I vehemently oppose the "Public Option" which I think is grossly misnamed, because there is nothing "optional" about the Government running our health care!

You know.... this was a perfect opportunity for the Democrats to do what they claimed they wanted to do, and set aside partisanship and politics as usual in Washington. They promised to bring a "new tone" to the "business as usual" in Congress, but is that what they have done? This was a perfect opportunity to set aside the bickering and pandering, and work together with the Republicans on a reasonable and comprehensive piece of legislation that most Americans would favor, but they didn't do that. They refused to work together, and insisted on ramming through what they wanted, without any regard for what at least half of the electorate wanted, and made very clear to them. Now that it's all headed south for the Dems, they want to continue insisting that we are going to get their version of health care reform, whether we like it or not. Well guess fucking what? The PEOPLE get to decide this! Not the Liberals!

"Homer the Vigilante"
Homer is invited to be a guest on Smartline. Kent Brockman interviews him.

Kent: Mr. Simpson, how do you respond to the charges that petty
vandalism such as graffiti is down 80%, while heavy
sack-beatings are up a shocking 900%?
Homer: Aw, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent.
Forfty percent of all people know that.
Kent: I see.

Wow, now you and I agree! I am looking outside for the big asteroid coming out of the sky.

:lmao:

Wow. That "change" reduces costs by a fraction of 1% and eliminates effective regulation. Man, that's way more than this bill could ever dream of!

What a fucking retard.

No. This is essentially one moderate and even Republican idea after another. Not a single liberal idea got into the bill, even the tamest, the public option. The 60 vote supermajority was just an illusion, because it encompassed "moderate" (in actuality, far right) Democrats who, in actuality, aren't any easier to deal with than Snowe or Brown.

The Republicans, however, are just tactically opposing everything the Obama administration proposes.

You have a serious reading comprehension problem... Where did I say everyone in favor of more refurms was for the PUBLIC OPTION?

Us Liberals are a LARGE part of THE PEOPLE!

Uhm... right here:

"So enough to make a majority favor healthcare reform, they just want it to go further than the Democrats have gone with it.. Like maybe a Public Option." ~Jarhead (circa 2:30 p.m.)

Oh I know... You guys are basically ALL the people! Save for a few racist redneck teabaggers! I'd say you guys make up about 99.998% of the population, judging by the way you act when in power!

The health care issue has been going on for decades. When the Repubs suggested they start over Obama was correct when he said that would result in nothing being done for another decade.

As Obama has continually stated we can't wait any longer. I think it's obvious if the Repubs were the slightest bit interested in health care they would have mentioned it during their eight years in power.

It reminds me of that old saying, "Lead, follow or get the hell out of the way."

The time for change is now!

No, actually the time for change was in January of 2009, when the Obama Administration took over with a super-majority in Congress. You couldn't get anything done! The only change Americans have seen, is jingling in the bottom of their tin cup outside the quickie mart! Democrats clearly have not lead, they don't seem to be interested in following, and come November, I suspect the American people will tell them to get the hell out of the way!

For the record, many Republicans have talked about health care reforms, I mentioned a few reforms I would like to see, and other Republicans have mentioned them as well, but Democrats don't want to listen to Republicans. That's where the problem comes in, we can't work together for comprehensive health care reform, until we can work together.

Personally, I don't place health care as the top priority in our country. In fact, it's not even number two or even number three! It ranks about SEVENTH on my list of priorities, and is not a major factor on how I vote. #1 is National Security... we are in an alQaeda declared war against America, and it's a fucking miracle they haven't hit us again since this clown has been in the Oval Office. #2 is the Economy... we need to be doing things to stimulate growth in business, not continuing to tax and punish the wealthy. #3 is Jobs... again, need to be doing things to encourage job growth, not stifling it. #4 Education... we need to move to a voucher system and let private schools compete for our business to improve educational quality. #5 National Debt... need to start REDUCING it! #6 Social Security solvency... we need to privatize SS, and allow people to invest for their own futures. THEN we get to health care... we need Tort Reform, Interstate Commerce, and Portability... maybe a tweak or two on Insurance regulations.
