If you try to sell your truck, but everyone knows you are desperate and feeling the heat, they will hold out for you to back down, you might end up giving it away because you cant afford the insurance.

Now, the countries that responded to his initial announcement the CORRECT way (iow, "willing to make a deal") had their tariffs TEMPORARILY lowered down to the 10% baseline amount while negotiations occur. It takes time to negotiate, ergo the 90 day "pause" in the higher tariff rates that were initially announced. Now they will be paying a 10% rate while negotiations are underway.

Meanwhile, the countries that responded to his initial announcement the WRONG way (iow, "retaliation") are now seeing INCREASED tariff rates and they have been kicked to the "back of the line". This includes China and the EU. Did you notice that the EU immediately ran away from us and sided with China? The EU totally exposed themselves during this little process.

Your Felon was feeling the heat, there is not other reason for what he did. If the heat were not so bad, holding on until they came to the table would be the proper negotiation strategy.

Yesterday the bottom fell out of the bond market, the banks were talking about ending standard loans. He was forced to back down because he was very close to economic collapse and now the other nations know he does not have close to the power he claimed.

I am willing to bet that yesterday a group of billionaires and leaders of industry along with the Republican leadership paid him a visit.

Id love to see how much Don, Jr made with insider info.

It just jumped over 2000 points.

Its a bad comparison, he showed his weakness. The world now knows our limit on tariffs. Its weakness.

If you try to sell your car, but let them know you will break on the price because you are desperate to get it sold... They will negotiate for an even lower price.

He demonstrated our limit, and the power the rest of the world has on our policy.
