A few years ago the hippies were fired up to get legalization of marijuana on the ballot here in Oregon. One day I was riding MAX when a hippie came through the car with the petition, asking people to sign. I declined. Across the aisle was a middle-age African American lady. The guy shoved his clipboard in her face and said, "Sign this. It's a petition to to legalize marijuana." (It wasn't; it was a petition to put the issue on the ballot.)

Lady said, "No, I don't think it should be legal"

The guy was totally beside himself. "Wha ... ?? Bu ... But you're black. Of course you want weed to be legal."

She just glared at him and went back to tapping on her cell phone.
