You are correct. However, I DO get rather tired of this inane chant, as if it somehow proves something unrelated to their own conversation.Pretending you do not understand conversational English in a place created for conversations to try to make someone feel "less than" is a bit pedantic and the Equivocation Fallacy. Rigidly insisting on the strict, literal interpretation (“Jan 6 is not a video. It’s a date.”) while everyone knows perfectly well the other person is using the common metonymy (“Jan 6” = the footage/events of that day), you are equivocating between the two meanings to score a cheap rhetorical point.
This may also be the Hyper-literalism fallacy, is (as I stated previously) the Pedantry Fallacy, and can also be a Red Herring if you are trying to shift the attention to Margot's wording rather than the point.
