Even righting jackass Senator Ted Cruz agrees with me that the president using a jet that has been outside the chain-of-custody of the US government is an espionage risk:


Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) is warning that Qatar’s gift of a luxury Boeing 747-8 to the Trump administration to serve as the new Air Force One poses “significant espionage and surveillance problems,” a concern voiced by other lawmakers.

“I’m not a fan of Qatar. I think they have a really disturbing pattern of funding theocratic lunatics who want to murder us, funding Hamas and Hezbollah. And that’s a real problem,” Cruz said

but it will still save money running this through an inspection vs buying a new plane and running that through inspection

this is a net benefit to US taxpapers - and since we are assholes that export depreciating dollars, it is a net benefit to everyone around the world by stopping some of our excess spending

The US government contracts with American manufacturers for the construction of Air Force 1 and Air Force 2, and the government is undoubtedly carefully invested in the oversight of the building of these aircraft.

You want our presidents to fly around in a jumbo jet that was in the possession of a Muslim nation which is known to harbor sympathisers with radical Islamists and other enemies of the United States.

Do we have an ironclad 100 percent guarantee that Russia, China, North Korea haven't invented eavesdropping technology that is exceptionally difficult to detect, and which could have found it's way into the hands of Qataris and other foreign Muslims who had access to this plane?
