Mail in voting to become federal law

The provisions that will make it easy to cheat and suborn the rights of state legislatures to regulate their own elections.

The Constitution also gives Congress this power.

"The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators."

Indeed. What leftists seem prone to forgetting is that the changes they implement for their own immediate benefit can be also used by their opponents. I look forward to stealing some elections.

Congressional Democrats plan to use their new-found majorities to permanently expand vote-by mail after an election that saw both record turnout and former President Donald Trump’s failed attempts to block New Jersey and other states from making it easier in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

The bill would let anyone could vote by mail for any reason and receive postage-paid envelopes for requesting and returning ballots. States would have to set up secure drop boxes for completed ballots. Any ballots postmarked by Election Day but received up to 10 days later would count, and voters whose ballots are rejected would have to be notified and given time to fix problems such as mismatched signatures

The bill also would create automatic voter registration and allow people to register on the same day they vote, require all states to provide 15 days for early voting, allow voters to sign affidavits in lieu of presenting photo IDs, and eliminate requirements that ballots be notarized or witnessed.

“We should have standardize rules and that’s what this bill is doing,” said Stephen Spaulding, senior counsel for public policy at the advocacy group Common Cause. “This hopefully would tamp down on all of that chaotic litigation by getting these rules settled and setting a national standard

The provisions are part of the Democrats’ campaign finance, ethics and voting legislation, designated at H.R. 1 in the new Congress to denote its priority. Democrats control the Senate as well and Majority Leader Chuck Schumer followed suit by numbering his bill as S. 1

I just heard a loud bang, did you? I think it was thousands of Reichwingers' heads exploding.

I'm not sure about that affidavit in lieu of providing photo ID though. I guess the best that could be said for that is it will allow the arrest and prosecution of anyone using that method fraudulently.

Something that is never mentioned is this: Mail in voting helped Republican turn out too. Trump got 74 million votes, which blows away the vote total of any previous GOP candidate.

The rare cases of vote fraud found were generally by Trump supporters attempting to vote for their brother or deceased mother.

And they were busted.

The only people afraid of increased voter participation are those who are not confident they can sell their ideas to a majority or plurality of voters.

Something that you never mentioned is this: what percentage of those 74 million GOP votes were mailed in?

Yeah might as well set it in concrete so you can continue to steal elections huh?

You just tried that, Dipshit, but as usual you Failed, please try again, more people need to take the long tour of a Federal Pen.
Now some moron in the Arizona State Legislature is pushing a Bill so that they can simply override the will of the People and decide for themselves who they want to win elections, kinda takes the word Democracy out of the Election, but I am sure you would be fine with it so long as your boys get to make the choice....

Hello floridafan,

Nice.

Excellent idea.

The Republican Party has spent way too much effort suppressing the vote. It's time to let everybody who is legal to vote, and wants to vote, be able to vote as easily as possible.

Undo all the Republican voter suppression nonsense!

Give an example of this supposed "repression" of the vote. Maybe you'll get to it after you tell us what amount constitutes a "living wage"

As we speak the republicans are well on their way to finding new reasons to limit voting rights.

First of all rights have limits as you cum stains always say and you love limiting gun rights. Next give us you best example repubs "limiting" voting rights.

That sounds like something that would come back to bite them in the ass one day. That is, assuming that the courts let it stand. I doubt that they will.

They haven't passed it and I seriously doubt they would without the population of Arizona going nuts. Thing is we have people in positions of authority that want to pass such laws and others that want to pass a bill to have the people of the State vote on leaving the Union, which is Not Legal. What it looks like is that there needs to be some house cleaning done from the State to the Federal level, some of these people are actually trying to tear our democracy apart and that should not be acceptable to any Americans.

Good.

Time for the Dems to up their game. And they'd better do it while they have the power, because when the cretins get back in the drivers seat (which will happen), they are going to do everything they can to limit voting.

I agree. Ironically, the Reichtards voted for #TRE45ON for exactly that reason. They wanted to make a fundamental change from the top down. Instead they fell for the lies of the circus barker, paid their entrance fee, and got fleeced.

If you want real change, you don't start at the top. There's a reason why they call it "grass roots" in politics.

But, But, Gaetz warns Republicans will never win ‘another national election again’ if mail-in balloting persists?!!

Who gives a damn?!!

The Republican Party will not be able to reclaim the White House as long as universal mail-in balloting remains in place, Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., claimed on Fox Business Network's “Lou Dobbs Tonight" Monday.

“If we accept this universal mail-out balloting to people who didn’t even request ballots, I don’t think Republicans will ever win another national election again,” said Gaetz. “That’s why we have to stand and fight now.”

Gaetz said some of his Republican colleagues have accepted the results of the presidential election, ignoring allegations of irregularities and fraud. Fox News has called Democrat Joe Biden as the winner of the election and the Trump campaign has not put forward evidence of widespread voter fraud in numbers sufficient to change the result.
