MAJOR BREAKING PREMIER OF ONTARIO TO SHUTOFF POWER TO 1.5 MILLION CUSTOMERS IN NEW YORK, MICHIGAN AND MINNESTOA

Another MAGAt lie. Sad.

How can liars and other scumbags ever be trusted?

CNN and others debunked Trump’s claim a month ago.

“There’s nothing prohibiting American banks from operating here, including having retail branches,” Cristie Ford, a professor at the University of British Columbia’s law school, said in an email in February.

Canada tightly regulates the banking industry, and it requires various government approvals before a foreign-owned bank can open in the country. But US banks have been operating in Canada for well over a century; the Canadian Bankers Association, an industry group, said in a February statement that “there are 16 U.S.-based bank subsidiaries and branches with around C$113 billion in assets currently operating in Canada” and that “U.S. banks now make up approximately half of all foreign bank assets in Canada.”

  • US states supply 67 percent of Canada’s vegetable imports and 36 percent of Canada’s fruit imports
  • 81 per cent of BC’s spinach, 70 per cent of BC’s lettuce, and 75 per cent of BC’s onions came from the US in 2022
  • 92 percent of BC’s strawberries were imported from the US
  • Canada imports Corn primarily from: United States
  • Canada imports Wood Products primarily from: United States ($2.23B),
  • United States has been the top source of steel imports for Canada for more than 20 years.
Cut it off
To which now Canada will look to export to other nations, and the Red Hat Club thought Chinese ports in Panama were a problem

You know there was a reason Regan celebrated good trade relations with Canada

Agreed. Other countries will realign their markets to fill in the vacuum left by the United States. China will be happy to go into the Third World nations abandoned by USAID.

Ontario has also dropped their Starlink contract. I imagine it will be a domino effect. Europe will not trust Starlink, either.
A smart move if one doesn't want to be held hostage by a megalomaniac or an oligarch.

The longer this goes on, the more other nations will no longer trust the United States and start relying upon each other and other business opportunities.

Trump will isolate the US back into the 19th Century with an economy to match.

I think that’s the plan.

Oh, and of course, New York and Minnesota, the two states that would be hit hardest, are both blue.

While the notion of Kathy Hochul eating a cold can of beans by the light of a single candle makes me chuckle, I can't help but wonder if the Canadian guy has checked the weather lately. It's about 35F in Ontario right now, probably not much warmer in those places up north where he wants to kill the power. Hope he realizes vulnerable people can die in weather like that, and that could lead to criminal charges.

The idea behind all of this is fair tariffs (maybe the elimination of them), fentanyl control, and illegal immigration. Not killing people.

Calli, you're just proving you don't understand the Ripple Effect either. Laugh all you want when your own energy prices, along with other prices, all rise due to what even the WSJ calls "the dumbest trade war in history".
