DDT was the best defense but this could help.
This may be the dumbest thing you have ever said. Water control has reduced malaria deaths in the USA to virtually nothing. There was a time that thousands died in cities like DC and New Orleans, but controlling the water to make sure that mosquitoes do not spread malaria in populated areas has reduced those numbers to near zero. That was all accomplished before DDT even existed.
At best DDT can reduce malaria cases by 50%, not the 100% we see from water control.
After hearing how the Covid "vaccine" was stopping Covid from spreading I take such claims with these vaccines with a grain of salt. I'll read up on the study.
We have had so much success at preventing malaria, why would you even consider getting the vaccine? Seriously, unless you plan to travel somewhere that has not put the engineering behind malaria prevention, what is the point?
Or maybe we are all worried that Republicans will remove malaria prevention. A puddle on your private property can cause me to get malaria, so I need the government to police your private property for puddles. The Republicans hate that, which I understand, and think it is not necessary, which I strongly disagree with.
So if the Republicans remove malaria protection, and try to replace it with DDT, maybe then we should all get vaccinated for malaria. Until then, it is unnecessary for people in America.
Did you know that the French tried to create a Panama Canal before America did? They had far too many deaths... They were literally putting a cup of water beneath the beds of Malaria patients as a "deterrent".... I don't even know what they thought they were deterring.
The Americans stopped all work on the canal proper, and put all their engineering into controlling still water. DDT was not even invented at that point, so played no part. The early malaria vaccine they used was not particularly effective either. It is all about draining water.
The Roman's got that over 2,000 years ago.
I guess the left is looking for new ways to kill black people now?
In 2020, there were 6 malaria deaths in the USA. From my understanding, most, but not all, were people who got malaria outside the USA. In the past, there were no cases from inside the USA, but we are getting lazy about our water control.
I have no idea how many of those were Black, but best guess are few to none. Blacks travel less than whites.
If it can stop the spread of 99.7% of the parasite that causes malaria, then we have a winner.
Malaria does not have huge outbreaks, so does not spread that quickly. Which means that a 50% reduction in spread might be great, On the other side, because it jumps species easily, and we will not vaccinate wild animals, 99.9% stopping the spread among the vaccinated might not be enough.
If vaccination reduces the death rate by far more than it increases the death rate, then it is worth it. Even if it only reduces the death rate by 10%, as long as it does not cause more deaths, it is worth it.
And there we get to the point. In America, we have already solved the malaria problem. In Italy, they have solved the malaria problem. In Singapore, they have solved the malaria problem. In China, they have solved the malaria problem. THERE IS NO POINT TO GETTING THE VACCINE AS LONG AS YOU ARE IN THESE PLACES!!!
No DDT required.
