Court documents show a Colorado man is facing possible bias-motivated charges for allegedly attacking a television news reporter after demanding to know whether he was a citizen, saying “This is Trump’s America now."

DENVER (AP) — A Colorado man is facing possible bias-motivated charges for allegedly attacking a television news reporter after demanding to know whether he was a citizen, saying “This is Trump’s America now,” according to court documents.

Patrick Thomas Egan, 39, was arrested Dec. 18 in Grand Junction, Colorado, after police say he followed KKCO/KJCT reporter Ja’Ronn Alex’s vehicle for around 40 miles (64 kilometers) from the Delta area. Alex told police that he believed he had been followed and attacked because he is Pacific Islander.

After arriving in Grand Junction, Egan, who was driving a taxi, pulled up next to Alex at a stoplight and, according to an arrest affidavit, said something to the effect of: “Are you even a U.S. citizen? This is Trump’s America now! I’m a Marine and I took an oath to protect this country from people like you!”


Alex, who had been out reporting, then drove back to his news station in the city. After he got out of his vehicle, Egan chased Alex as he ran toward the station’s door and demanded to see his identification, according to the document laying out police’s evidence in the case. Egan then tackled Alex, put him in a headlock and “began to strangle him,” the affidavit said. Coworkers who ran out to help and witnesses told police that Alex appeared to be losing his ability to breathe during the attack, which was partially captured on surveillance video, according to the document.

They are creating a generation of men who are angry because they aren’t thriving and stick their anger, even though the reason they aren’t thriving is due to their own laziness and ignorance. They want to be angry more women are going to college and succeeding in corporate American than they are.

There are skyrocketing crime levels for white men over 50, and I simply do not understand it. I kind of assumed people would be happy where they found themselves at 50+, but I guess I was wrong. Look at Stone, according to him he has everything he could want in life, with no effort, but he is one of the most unhappy people I think I have ever met online.

It always weirds me out that I am middle aged, but people who have known me my whole life say I have always been middle aged calm. Being Jewish is being white, and yet somehow not quite fully white. I was never very violent, but I did box, and was a bouncer, so there was some violence. I have done neither in decades.

I am not 100% happy with where I am at this point in life, but it sure is comfortable. I certainly would not use violence to change my life.

Somewhere along the way they lost the knowledge that happiness and contentment come from internal possessions, not external. Filled with grievance and rage, they are the perfect dupes for a Hitler, a Trump, a cult leader.
