Mandate UPHELD!

CNN has it right now...

[Updated at 10:16 a.m. ET] Kate Bolduan reports that the Chief Justice John Roberts issued a long opinion in which he said the controversial individual mandate may be upheld and is within Congress’ power under the taxing clause rather than the commerce clause.

[Updated at 10:15 a.m. ET] The Supreme Court has upheld the entire health care law by a vote of 5 to 4, Supreme Court Producer Bill Mears said. That includes the medicare provision

CNN is often wrong re Supreme Court, they have kneejerk reactions before they read the entire rulling.

Its your choice if your taxes are raised or not... If you buy health insurance your taxes dont go up!
 
Im sure they will, but he did not require the middle class to pay any extra in taxes.

But it was passed by reconcilliation, as a budget law. Tax laws cannot be passed by reconcilliation..:palm:

The mandate itself is a tax. It survives only as that. Basically they can't say "buy this" but they can say "pay this tax"...

So, when I buy insurance under this law, according to the ruling, I am paying a tax, one that he promised I would never pay. (read my lips, no new taxes)
 
Seems the SC is now getting into legislating and amending law.....

So the Healthcare bill, when voted on by congress, was passed under false pretenses.....that is, the mandate was not a tax....now 2 years later, it is a tax....

Gotta admit....thats pretty slick....even slimy....

Bravo you should be busy making signs so you can get on tv. You know what would really guarantee you're heard? Set yourself on fire outside the supreme court. Don't worry you don't have to go all the way, someone will put you out.

That is simply not true. When you buy insurance you get a specific thing, insurance. If you do not buy insurance you are choosing a tax instead.

the "tax" is a penalty....if it quacks like a duck and it walks like a duck, etc.....

We're adults here, lets stop the playing with semantics and the continual spreading of bullshit to gain a fake political advantage

Its the law and we'll have to abide with it....but we don't have to sell our integrity and accept the crap coming from Washington as the truth.
