My experience was a bit different. No one was opposed to gun ownership.

And pretty much everyones' Dad had at least a handgun stashed in the top dresser drawer. Access to guns was probably even easier back we were young'uns.

Blacks couldn't own guns. We weren't even considered humans when the 2nd amendment was written.

Once we gained some rights, Reagan took our gun rights away and to this day we get shot dead for having a gun.

Reagan made it illegal to open carry in public. So on one hand you want to ban guns but you claim not being able to open carry is taking gun rights away? Can you find two further extremes?

If you skim this board, you will see the rightwing pouting and getting outraged about a lot of things: usually involving food stamps, Obamacare, Medicare, the EPA, etc.

You know what I have never seen - at least in any measureable way? The Rightwing showing any genuine concern and shock over American school children being continuously gunned down, blown away in large numbers.

If gun ownership, as a percentage of the population, was at its peak in the '70's and the NRA at the time was nowhere near the organization that it is today how did they convince half our country (all racists) that they needed guns?
