Marjorie Taylor Greene calls herself 'Christian Nationalist' in speech

We fight, We win, Am Yisrael Chai
GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia told an audience of young conservatives on Saturday to add a monkey emoji to their social media profiles in light of the World Health Organization's emergency declaration on monkeypox.

She also labeled herself a 'Christian Nationalist,' which earned appreciative noises from the crowd at the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit in Tampa, Florida.

A line that was more warmly received was Greene proudly labeling herself a 'Christian Nationalist.'

Christian nationalists seek to automatically privilege conservative Christian norms and identity, they separate out a special class of “true,” “fully American” citizens from others. And in a multi-ethnic, multi-religious democracy such as ours, these efforts are inherently destabilizing and undermine open and honest national debates over a host of issues.

Christian nationalists were among those who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6. There were a number of groups there—the Proud Boys, QAnon adherents, the Oath Keepers—and many people who were not part of any specific group but whose beliefs may align with any or all of those. Was there a specific moment, either a photo, or witness account, that showed a distinctly Christian nationalist ideology at work

Fucking awesome. It appears Margie never heard about the First Law of Holes.

Real Christians differ on the path screamed by Christian Nationalists: https://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2021/february-web-only/what-is-christian-nationalism.html
What Is Christian Nationalism?
Christian nationalism takes the name of Christ for a worldly political agenda, proclaiming that its program is the political program for every true believer. That is wrong in principle, no matter what the agenda is, because only the church is authorized to proclaim the name of Jesus and carry his standard into the world. It is even worse with a political movement that champions some causes that are unjust, which is the case with Christian nationalism and its attendant illiberalism. In that case, Christian nationalism is calling evil good and good evil; it is taking the name of Christ as a fig leaf to cover its political program, treating the message of Jesus as a tool of political propaganda and the church as the handmaiden and cheerleader of the state.

I would be surprised if she actually attends any Christian church on a regular basis.

Rumor says she attends the Church of the Holy Payola. Time will tell.

Regardless, I doubt her political career will last past 2024....although there's excellent entertainment value in her continuing in DC.

I don't quite know what a "Christian Nationalist" is but it's gotta be better than being openly Socialist or Communist...

Smart people want none of them. The Christian Nationalists are authoritarian assholes as more eloquently explained in the earlier link about them.

There are a lot of atheists who will cynically use biblical rhetoric to manipulate the rubes, for example Donald Trumpf, Steve Bannon, Ronald Reagan, etc. MTG might be cut from the same cloth.

Using religion to manipulate the rubes dates back well before Jesus.

Christian nationalism is antithetical to the constitutional ideal that belonging in American society is not predicated on what faith one practices or whether someone is religious at all. The political ideology that seeks to merge American and Christian identities is deeply embedded in American society and manifests itself in a number of different ways, some more obviously harmful than others. The most violent expressions, such as what we saw at the January 6 insurrection, get most of the attention. But the more subtle ones—like state legislative efforts to promote the teaching of the Bible in public schools or to require the posting of “In God We Trust” in public schools and other public places—are also dangerous in that they perpetuate the false narrative that to be a true American one must be Christian—and often a certain type of Christian. Christian nationalism undergirds a number of threats to religious freedom, including anti-Muslim bigotry, anti-Semitism, and government-sponsored religion.

So, it's a Right-wing version of the sort of insane Atheism the radical Left pushes on society. Got it. By the way, I stand against both.

So now you see how the GQP is about Christian Nationalism? Glad you are waking up. The Democrats are not the problem.

No, I see two sides of the same coin. On the Right it's hard-core Christians, on the Left its hard-core Atheists. Both are mostly a bunch of religious nutbags that should be bitch slapped hard and often.

Where do you get the idea that the Left is hard-core Atheists?
