I love the theory of Capitolism.....

How the market rules and the best float to the top, those that fall short are out of business...

The problem is the uneducated consumer....

The most basic example is....

Many consumers see a television ad and are prompted to pay more for an inferror product.

The Company that can misinform the public more rises to the top, the ones that fall short go out of business.

It happens in law all the time... Very good lawyers cant get the clients because the big factories of a law firm go out and scoop up all of the clients with fancy television ads and such...

It happens with vehicles, Lexis produces an inferror vehicle compared to other vehicles in its class. Lexis charges as much or more... but they got a name and in the luxuary car market a name and the cost of a vehicle can be more important than the value of the vehicle itself.

It happens with all types of products, you can come up with countless examples.

How do we correct this so that Capitolism works better?

It's a good question jarod. Finally. lol. :^)

The problem is that so much of humanity is not really rational. It has a purpose but it's not rationally thought out. Much of it from the desire to imitate what is popular. Period. And what is popular is popular also because of subconscious reasons. Images of abundance, images of power, images of being successful with the opposite sex.

We seek paths to these ends. We crave them. If we didn't have magazine ads, we would invent them. Similar to what some say about god.

Good question. I don't know the answer. It does seem stupid on some level, but people need to buy shit and someone needs to pay for television.

i would like a media not funded by advertising. but shit, i don't wanna pay for it.

:palm:

The market is far better than corruptible and for sale politicians at picking winners and losers.

Advertisements provide consumers with information.

If you don't want a Lexus don't buy it. Who cares if some other idiot does? Your tastes are no more worthy of state support than your religion is.

The problem with that is the guy trying to sell a better car at a better price gets put out of business and all of society suffers. Those who are smart enough want the better car end up getting screwed.

Its one of the reasons Lawyers have a bad name. Idiots go to those who have slick ads, most who have slick ads have so much overhead that they cant give individual cases the attention they deserve and still afford the overhead. More people end up with shitty lawyers who dont care or dont have the time to care because they are running a mill to be able to pay for the ad that got them the business in the first place. I know I quit a place like that about a year ago.

These clients dont know or realize there was a lawyer down the street that would have treated them better, more ethically and gotten them a better resuilt.... so they go around saying lawyers are shit!

Conservative animals have a curious sense of "responsibility" where all those who are in power have no responsibility and everyone else can suck it. Fuck you. I fucking hate you.
