It's to be expected. People generally don't want EVs. Trump removed Democrat imposed requirements for them. These idiots were all excited when EVs became popular, even to the point of trying to legislate requiring the purchase of them. Now they tout the drop in EV sales.

Buying a Tesla is like buying an iPhone. You can get just as great tech, function, reliability, etc. but for a whole lot less than you pay for name brand designer stuff. Musk's businesses are regulated by U.S. laws regarding worker pay and hours, environmental statutes, taxation, etc. He wants a large unelected role in federal govt., and Trump as his handmaiden, in order to loosen those protections and make him even more billions at our expense.
