And just think most of these cuts don't start for a couple of years maybe some other Republican Congressmen and Senators will wake up and see it is going to hurt their backers and do something to change it.
As it is some of the cuts have already started to hurt rural areas and add on top of that Trumps tariffs , and not all of them haven't been put in place yet.
MAGAS are so stupid they really think that exporting countries will pay all of them, well they may pay a small percent of them but with them being so high they will pass most of them on to the US consumer taking money out of the economy because the price of everyday things will be and have already started to go up.
Driving inflation up and our economy down.
When these price increases finally hit them in their pocket book they will start crying, it is only a matter of time.

In all fairness to those who don't deserve it, IMO one reason they postponed the cuts was to give states -- esp. red ones with high numbers of Medicaid recipients -- time to scramble around and figure out how to replace the federal funding that is being taken away. If they want to preserve Medicaid in their states, they will have to cut state budgets and/or raise taxes. This will happen *before* the midterms and will be unpopular with those who suddenly find they're paying higher taxes, or doing without state services, or both. It will also give the states time to inform Medicaid recipients of impending disenrollment. I have a strong hunch that this is going to backfire on the Republikkkans big time. Hawley might be a sniveling weasel, but he's smart enough to have seen the writing on the wall.

Then add on the cost states are going to have if they want to help the people get through sever storms like Hurricanes and other things because Federal help isn't there any more .
As you said if the states have to take this all on themselves state taxes are going to go up and a lot of people will get hurt because the help isn't there any more and they will be getting pissed off.
But this is what they voted for so now let the shit show begin and watch all the crying start.

We saw that not that long ago with the floods in the SE. Reporters found plenty of angry ppl who were bitching that FEMA hadn't done anything for them yet even though the flooding had only occurred a few days before. RW media really ran with that in an attempt to smear Biden. Bad decision. It gave the #TangerineTyrant and the Republikkkans the opportunity to dismantle and defund FEMA to basically hobble it. They fucked themselves. Too bad ppl who were grateful for aid won't be getting any in the future.

And as it has been pointed out Hurricane season has only started and people in the south have been lucky so far that they haven't had a bad one yet.
But with all the flooding they have had and not getting the help they need they have started to cry.
IMO when a big one does hit and there isn't the help there because of FEMA cuts and states haven't funded any programs to help their people it is going to hurt a LOT of people.
Only time will tell.
And with Trump putting all the responsibility for any help on the states IF they are going to help their people at all they are going to have to raise their state taxes to fund what ever help they do supply and it may not be much ,
As I said we will have to see how this hurricane season goes and how many people don't get the help they need.

I liked McCaskill. When my middle daughter first graduated, she worked at the local paper as a graphic designer. One day a bus pulled up and an entouage came into the newspaper office. It was McCaskill, stumping for Obama in 2008. I have a photo of my daughter standing in a group photo right next to her. Funniest part -- the paper's owner was a proto-MAGAT and Teatard. She was so furious that she refused to meet McCaskill and instead shut herself up in her office. Reichtards are so childish. lol
