It is actually certified that Crooks did not vote in any primary. He only voted in the general election of 2022.

He was never a Democrat, and did not vote in the Democratic primaries.

He registered to vote and as a Republican in the month of his 18th birthday, so there is no record of him voting before then. The 2022 primaries were before he was 18, so he could not vote in them. He voted in the 2022 general election. Then did not vote in the 2024 primaries, which is normal because it is too late to matter.

We may never know why Crooks was a Republican. But we do know your reasons make no sense.
