Medicare for All: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver

I'd be good with Medicare for All who want it. The private companies would lose so much money, they'd die out on their own.

It is the exact opposite; when given the choice, most would opt OUT of the Government controlled choices. That is why we are all FORCED to sign up for medicare at age 65 regardless of coverage.

The private plans are not being threatened except by Bernie's rhetoric. Private plans suck like the system does and are not guaranteed. Unions are one contract away from losing theirs.
Bernie is not selling Medicare for all. That is the label and it is a bad one. it will not have the 20 percent kick in Medicare has now. It will not take the 100 bucks a month plus it costs to seniors now. It will include dental and optical.
It is much better than Medicare.

This post is nothing but a lie filled pile of malarkey.

Private companies have mismanagement too.
Losing our liberties? That hasn't happend yet. Also hasn't happened in countries with universal healthcare.
There will be higher taxes, but the savings will be better.

Mine has never failed me.

We were told Obamacare would save people money. That was a lie.

Yep, was a good clip but I think ppl need the option plan.....

Kinda like being on the sinking ship & those w/ life jackets hopping in the life boats not seeing a problem w/ the ship going down, afterall, those good folks was gonna die sooner or later anyways.. :dunno:

Shitty analogy. If people are given options, they would not choose the Government version. Your meme is also quite stupid. You're more likely to die in a State controlled plan on a long waiting list for critical care than under private plans where care is basically immediately available.

Why do they need an option if the healthcare system covers everything? Do they want to pay for a policy that covers less?

Government managed programs don't cover everything. They cover the basics and force their citizens to go to emergency outpatient services and faceless doctors.

The guy ^ lives in a gated village in Florida, I'm even going to bet the Villages, which means he is collecting Medicare living in a surreal world watching "Fox and Friends" every morning, he wouldn't know anything better until one of his demogogues told him it was better

^The guy is full of bullshit and never has any facts to support his loony claims.

But John explained why that isn't a great thing either as it keeps the insurance industry profitable while pushing all the major costs on the Fed.

Jonathan Gruber, the architect of Obamacare, thinks you're all a bunch of idiots. So is this an admission that Obamacare was a lie?

Jonathan Gruber Videos: Americans "Too Stupid to Understand" Obamacare

Maybe, but the point is the private insurance will try to push off the most costly clients while keeping the least costly. That's how they profit in general - that's why Obamacare is a partial failure.

Wrong; private insurance will want to adjust their rates depending on existing conditions. They are not in business to lose money. They profit by finding ways to prevent illness rather than just signing blank checks.

Government manages costs by limiting availability and letting people die or become crippled while waiting on long waiting lists. ;)

That's a nice feel good thing to say but part of the issue is that healthcare is so complicated, and unexpected things happen that might not be covered, who knows if you're really getting a good plan at a fair price.

We were told by Democrats, leftists and the PHONY media that Obamacare would be the solution. It was all a lie.

Pelosi: "We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it."

If it's private insurance, then you're probably not. That's why I think when Medicare for All is a thing, most Americans will voluntarily leave their private insurance.

They won't. If that were remotely connected to the truth and reality, the Government wouldn't MANDATE that all Americans sign up for Medicare at age 65. ;)

Private companies have mismanagement too.

Private companies are forced to reduce mismanagement or go out of business. Government failure is forced on us by law and we have no recourse.

Losing our liberties? That hasn't happend yet.

So? Who has said that it has. I stated clearly that Government control does entail loss of liberty and choice. Why is this so difficult for you to comprehend?

Also hasn't happened in countries with universal healthcare.

Of course it has. Why do you think that those who can afford to, come here for operations that cannot get in their own countries? What do you think it means when you no longer have a choice about who you can see and have as your doctor?

There will be higher taxes, but the savings will be better.

That is a lie. It is the same lie that was lampooned on us from Obama and the Democrats when they passed Obamacare along a straight party line vote. Claims that Government is more efficient and better at managing large portions of our economy's are based on lies and cannot be supported by historic facts.

Of course, if you're an idiot and think that long wait times for hip replacements or heart surgery and confiscatory tax rates are great ideas, you will love Government controlled healthcare.

If it's private insurance, then you're probably not. That's why I think when Medicare for All is a thing, most Americans will voluntarily leave their private insurance.

Private insurance is guaranteed to go up in cost and coverage will drop and copays rise. That is how they work. Why anyone thinks that is a good system is a mystery. Anyone is a union knows how the great coverage of the old days has eroded, year after year. Apparently many Repubs like being looted by bad healthcare and high prices.
