Megyn Kelly reassures racist children

Just an interesting tidbit.

“At that time also there appeared a certain man of magic power … if it be meet to call him a man, [whose name is Jesus], whom [certain] Greeks call a son of [a] God, but his disciples [call] the true prophet … he was a man of simple appearance, mature age, black-skinned (melagchrous), short growth, three cubits tall, hunchbacked, prognathous (lit. ‘with a long face’ [macroprosopos]), a long nose, eyebrows meeting above the nose … with scanty [curly] hair, but having a line in the middle of the head after the fashion of the Nazaraeans, with an undeveloped beard.”
This short, black-skinned, mature, hunchbacked Jesus with a unibrow, short curly hair and undeveloped beard bears no resemblance to the Jesus Christ taken for granted today by most of the Christian world: the tall, long haired, long bearded, white-skinned and blue eyed Son of God. Yet, this earliest textual record matches well the earliest iconographic evidence.

So he was black-skinned (melagchrous ?...sun tanned?), short and hunchbacked with one long eye brow, no long beard and short kinky hair ?

And thats what you believe ?

Very interesting 'tidbit'.....

The Bible does not say, because it does not matter. To categorically state that he is clearly "your" race, is at best ignorant and egocentric or at worse racist.

oh man, her trying to "reassure the children" that santa (or jesus) is white as if the alternative is just too scary to fathom is just so cringe worthy.

Did I say I believed? It was an interesting article to me with early art depictions of Jesus. I found it interesting and educational. I am sorry you didn't. I don't know Jesus race and I am not even sure of the existence of Jesus, but I like reading different theories.

He was a semite, not a caucasian. that's just a fact. middle eastern arabs AND jews native to the area certainly do NOT have white complexions.

but I can imagine how some intolerant, racist, faux Christians might love him less if they thought he were less than pale.

OK, don't get excited.....thanks for the clarification....you're a might touchy, touchy

Nor do they have black complexions or features..... but more brown skin as caused by the environment...
Is 'Semite' a race.....as opposed to Caucasian or Negroid, neither of which word has been used throughout this thread.

Not sure what your point is about white complexions....Italians for example don't normally have 'white' complexions....what race to consider them to be....
What 'race' are Jews and Arabs ?
The term 'race' has taken on an entirely different meaning than what was thought and taught just 50 or 60 years ago....
Race, these days has more to do with ethnics and genetic differences than mere skin color....

Also interesting.....is he a mythical character ?
The name comes from the Dutch doesn't it ?
Did the Dutch portray him a other than what they look like ?

The historical figure, Saint Nicholas, who Santa is based upon, was from what is now Turkey, and definitely not a white guy.

It goes ever further back to the Greek Saint Nicholas. Greeks rarely have white skin.

Oh, I thought he was Greek, but same difference. Great minds often think alike.

Was Beethoven Black? Was His African Heritage Whitewashed?

In the 15th and 16th century, written history underwent a massive campaign of misinformation and deception. With the European slave trade in full swing, Africans were transported to various parts of the world and were stripped of every aspect of their humanity, and in most of western civilization, were no longer considered human. This triggered a wholesale interpretation of history that methodically excluded Africans from any respectful mention, other than a legacy of slavery. This can result in being taught, or socialized, from one perspective. In this instance, historical information tends to flow strictly from a European perspective.

In an age where history is seriously being rewritten, new information is coming forth that is shocking intellectual sensitivities. What was once considered written in stone is now melting away with the discovery of facts that heretofore have been hidden or omitted; things so different that they are generally classified as controversial or unusual.

That brings us to the topic of this post; the true identity of Ludwig van Beethoven, long considered Europe’s greatest classical music composer. Said directly, Beethoven was a black man. Specifically, his mother was a Moor, that group of Muslim Northern Africans who conquered parts of Europe--making Spain their capital--for some 800 years.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semitic_people

Semitic peoples and their languages, in ancient historic times (between the 30th and 20th centuries BC), covered a broad area which encompassed what are today the modern states and regions of Iraq, Syria, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestinian territories, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Yemen, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, the Sinai Peninsula and Malta, as well as parts of southern Turkey, before spreading to Tunisia in the 9th century BC, Ethiopia and Eritrea in the 8th century BC, and into Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Sudan, Morocco, Mauritania and Khuzestan (south western Iran) from the 7th century AD.

Sure we know Jesus race. He was a sephardic jew. Which means he could have been any color from a light brown to dark black.
