First term to grasp, Laissez Faire - which means "let people do as they choose." (we can see already how this contrasts to the totalitarian socialist ideal)
Laissez Faire Capitalism is a free market - the uncoerced trade between people, where the buyer and sell exchange value for value. What the value of each is, is not the concern of anyone outside of the traders.
Laissez Faire Capitalism is common when people are free. Yard sales, flea markets, any exchange where government or other criminal elements are not involved.
Regulated Capitalism is where government, the Mafia, Mexican Cartels, or other criminal groups allow markets to exist, but demand a share of the proceeds. That is the sort of Capitalism we have in America. Government steals a portion from every transaction in exchange for protection - from them.
