i think that he would use stand off and air force/navy fighters/bombers, but not boots on the ground, with the possible exception of special forces to go in and blow up chemical/biological storage depots in syria, but not army/marine soldiers
in iran, obama would use bunker buster bombs with fighters/bombers and antiaircraft suppression aircraft, drones and cruise missiles
i spent over 25 years working in aerospace with military personnel and at military facilities (army, navy (air, surface and subsurface), air force and marines and have a good idea what we have available and their capabilities
we just do not have the resources to mount an actual invasion of iran or syria and certainly not both of them, but we can do severe damage to them with our other resources
also, if we attack iran, i would expect a joint operation with israel - we would need to suppress iran's antiaircraft capability to get bombers into iran and back again after they dropped their bunker buster bombs..and we may have to attack twice...one bomb may not be enough, but a second one on top of the first would penetrate...assuming we do not use nuclear weapons...

1. he never mentioned troops on the ground for iran and obama said the same thing.
2. what he actually said about syria:
"I think we have to also be ready to take whatever action is necessary to ensure that we do not have any kind of weapon of mass destruction falling into the hands of terrorists and whether that requires troops, or whether that requires other actions by our friends and allies," Romney said in an interview with CBS News.
so he never stated he would as a matter of fact, he stated it was an option along with other options. obama has said the same thing.

If he can concoct a reason to destroy Libya .. and he and NATO have destroyed Libya without question .. then he and NATO can concoct a reason to destroy just about any nation they CAN.
