Hoover was head of FBI for many decades and he was a kingdom maker. He answered to nobody, collecting "useful" dirt on any politician or person he saw as a threat to his power. THe fact that the original post said "the FBI was unable to confirm the stories":, seems to be missed by haters. Perhaps it was mixed up with Trumps portfolio.

But why does it matter? He was an important civil rights leader who moved the country in a better direction.
 
If any god damn statues should be brought down in this nation it should be his. King was a loser. He wanted to restructure the social, political, and economic relationships that exist throughout our entire society. I wonder where the bullet is today that killed King. I might like to buy it if I could track it down.

Hoover was probably gay and had it in for MLK as a threat to the status quo.. Hoover also was part and parcel of the whole Joseph McCarthy debacle.

I don't think of MLK as as saint, but there's no question that he was a visionary and a good man.

Men without ethics or character or vision are always out to get those who do.

I'm quite aware of that sermon and I am also aware of how you are going to try to twist it around and say that Jesus was for Social Justice. :palm:

Yes.. The Sermon on the Mount was to teach the Jews how do deal with the abuses of the Roman occupation non-violently... You do know about Roman Law in Palestine, don't you? A Roman soldier could hit a Jew or demand they carry their 60 pound pack a mile..

Hoover was appointed as the director of the Bureau of Investigation — the FBI's predecessor — in 1924 and was instrumental in founding the FBI in 1935.

Don't kid yourself.. He was also political .. as all religion is political. All Jewish prophesy re: the messiah... was about an anointed warrior king like David who would vanquish their enemies.

The burning issue of the times was NOT salvation since Jews didn't believe in hell.. it was the Roman occupation.
