MLK WAS AN "UNCLE TOM"!!

Same story with Shelby Steele, Thomas Sowell, Candace Owens, Alan Keyes, John McWhorter, Michael Steele, Carole Miller Dwain, Charles Payne and Michael L. Williams to name a few.

Do people know that the people marching at Selmer carried the American flag?

MLK begged Americans to elect liberal Democrat LBJ over rightwing Republican Barry Goldwater.

MLK recognized that racial prejudice in this country was widespread and toxic

Meanwhile, Tim Scott disputed Biden that racial prejudice remains a major problem --- even though Scott confessed the next day he has been pulled over 18 times for driving while black.

The Christian Left has been at the forefront of successful social and economic justice movements for well over a century.

The Christian Right's major success is building the Creation Science Museum and the Jesus Land Theme Park

Total bullshit.

Nearly all the racism is in the Democrat Prog run inner cities.

Goldwater only won 6 States because even back in 1964 America was not a systemically racist country.

The Christian "left"? :palm: WTF

Democrats controlled the House, Senate, and White House. No civil rights legislation was going to pass without Democratic leadership.

Barry Goldwater, the first truly rightwing Republican to be a presidential candidate, alarmed Dr. King so much that he issued a statement begging all blacks, and whites of good conscience, to vote for the liberal LBJ and send the rightwing Goldwater down to defeat.

The Christian Left's involvement in the successful social and economic justice movements of the last 150 years is a matter of historical record.

Goldwater was NOT a racist. He supported both the 57 and 60 CRAs (both promoted by and signed by IKE), ... and Goldwater desegregated the Az. National Guard in 1946. And only opposed the 64 CRA because he believed it was unconstitutional.

And conservative Repubs fought for Black rights for 100 years before Dems finally got onboard.

Over 80% of repubs voted for the 64 CRA vs. around 60% of DemSocs.

Everyone was pretty much racist back then. Nothing unusual.

Wrong. Repub conservatives had been fighting for the CRA for 100 years.

Re: the 1960 CRA signed by and promoted by Ike.

"the House of Representatives approved the bill on March 24, 1960 by a vote of 311–109.[2][4] 179 Democrats and 132 Republicans voted Aye. 93 Democrats, 15 Republicans, and 1 Independent Democrat voted Nay. 2 Democrats and 1 Republican voted present.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil...nts, the House,and 1 Republican voted present.

You speak like a damned fool, considering MLK did not face the atrocity of the KKKluxers, having his home bombed and dealing with the struggles of the Civil Rights Movement at being a Uncle Tom. Martin Luther King Jr. was leader that in accordance with President Lyndon Bain Johnson established the 1964 federal civil rights laws.

Klansman Malcom X calls Rev. MLK an Uncle Tom ...

The Republican Party willfully and purposefully nominated Goldwater as their leader in 1964. No one forced Republicans to willingly make Goldwater the face of their party.

Goldwater represented the Republican Party at large in 1964.

MLK thought the arch-conservative Goldwater was giving aid and comfort to racists, and that the Republican presidential nominee represented such a threat to the nation, he practically begged Americans to vote against the Republican Party presidential nominee.

Nelson Rockefeller was the presumptive repub nominee, moron. Rockefeller only lost because of his divorce scandal, losing the critical left coast, California primary.

Goldwater supported the 57 and 60 CRAs. Furthermore ...

" He was half-Jewish and as a private citizen and U.S. senator had fought discrimination time and again. He led the way in desegregating the Arizona Air National Guard in 1946, two years before President Truman desegregated the armed forces. He was an early member of the Phoenix chapters of the NAACP and the Urban League, even making up the latter’s operating deficit when it was getting started. He desegregated the Senate cafeteria in early 1953, demanding that his black legislative assistant be served along with every other Senate employee, after learning she had been denied service.

Not all black Americans were eager to wrap the albatross of racism around Goldwater’s neck. In recognition of his many contributions, most of them unpublicized, Goldwater received in 1991the Humanitarian Award “for 50 years of loyal service to the Phoenix Urban League.”

Trump was the first American President that never objected to gay marriage.

1. Trump isn't a Republican.

2. The absence of objection is not an approval. I know you people don't grasp the concept, but words have meanings.

3. The only thing Trump as president ever had to do with LGBTQ civil rights was to attack them. Ask a transgender person.

This thread is about MLK.

You could certainly go on a quest to track down a few obscure black supporters of Goldwater.

The OP implied MLK was a conservative Republican.

When the Republican Party willfully and purposefully nominated the arch-conservative Barry Goldwater to be the face and leader of their party, Dr. King went out of his way to state the GOP was catering to racism and begged black and white Americans to vote against Goldwater and what he represented.

The Democrat party today has moved away from the principles MLK had. He would be called and Uncle Martin if he were still alive and had the guts to express his thoughts. MLK was a great man that had his life stolen all to soon.

^^ the opinion of an obscure rightwing poster.

What matters is that when Republicans actually nominated a true rightwing conservative for president, Dr. King begged Americans to reject Goldwater in favor of the liberal LBJ.

On January 30, 2017, Donald Trump said he would keep in place a 2014 executive order from the Obama administration which created federal workplace protections for LGBT people. The White House released a statement saying the President was "respectful and supportive of LGBTQ rights" and noted that he was the first Republican nominee to raise the issue (in his acceptance speech at the 2016 Republican National Convention).[195]

It also matters MLK was pro life pro God and a devout Christian and pro gun. All of which the Democrat party has removed itself from. Hell JFK would have no place in today's Democrat far left party.

Pro life = anti-choice = misogynist.
There's no such thing as a good "pro-lifer."
They're all disgusting troglodytes who themselves should have been aborted.

As for guns, I don't give a shit one way or the other. You can discuss that among yourselves.

Does not change the fact that in 1964 with the choice of a conservative Republican and a liberal Democrat on the ballot, Dr. King explicitly called on the nation to reject Goldwater and the racism Republicans were flirting with.

Does not change the fact that MLK's pro-life Pro God Pro- Christianity and Pro Gun stance puts him at odds wit today's radical Democrat party. If he expressed those beliefs today Dems would call him Uncle Martin.

Nope. Lots of Democrats own guns and go to church.

Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Jimmy Carter are far more devout and authentic Christians than Donald Trump, Ronald Reagan, or Tricky Dick Nixon.

Also, I refuse to accept your premise that Dr. King would have been in favor of unrestricted and unregulated access to military style assault rifles with high capacity ammo clips.

You have zero evidence of that.

What we have unequivocal evidence for is that when there was a choice between a liberal Democrat and a conservative Republican on the national ballot, Dr. King begged Americans to vote against the conservative.
