Morality? Rule Of Law? Common Sense?

No, we regulated price and there is a difference. Public utilities are largely funded by the people through state and local taxes. Corporations are not like public utilities in a number of fundamental ways, which are not pertinent to this thread.

You simply can't effect profits of Corporations unless you do so on the consumer end. There is no way to confiscate a portion of their profits, they will increase prices to account for this and just make more. What you end up doing is harming the consumer. Want to add a new tax? Again, you effect the consumer, because the corporation is not going to forfeit their profits, they have an obligation to the stockholders to increase profits, not forfeit them to socialists. That's just the way it is, and you don't have to believe me, go read up on business and find out for yourself.

Then tell them not to increase prices or shut down their business. It's easy enough.

If that is their option, they will shut down. Corporations have the obligation to make profits for their stockholders, and if you tell them they are not allowed to do this, they will simply close the doors and cut their losses while they can. They are not going to reduce their profits, because to do this, would mean they lose stockholders and eventually go out of business anyway.

See.... you guys want to keep trying to do Socialist things with Capitalism, and it won't ever work as you believe it should. Now, if you have Government take over all Corporations and America becomes a Fascist Socialist state, then maybe you can manipulate industry and commerce and control prices. You could demand that corporations work for the state or you will come execute the people in charge. Of course, then we are living in the old Soviet Union, and I don't think anyone really wants that, do they?

Then they can get in the unemployment lines like the rest of us.

I assure you, if the choice is between only outrageous profits and shutting down, they will choose outrageous profits.

You keep illustrating it over and over. You FEEL anything which reduces profits in anyway is some kind of communism.

You keep trying to do fascistic things with basic human freedom. Humanity has an obligation to itself to reject the kind of morality-free fascism you espouse.
