more proof, why lawyers should NEVER be judges

its complicated and difficult because of lawyers and judges. It used to be simple 200 years ago. what we have now is just another apparatus of the big brother government

False, its always been complicated and difficult, in fact in the past it was more so, especally because of the use of latin.

Watch the movie Amastad to see how difficult it was 200 years ago.

dipshit, I've seen that movie several times (it's an excellent movie, btw) and there are two things about it.

1) its a movie
2) there was nothing complicated about any of the law in that movie. I was able to follow it just fine, even for a high school grad.

seriously, how brainwashed do you have to be to think that ONLY a lawyer can read and understand a law book?

You don't have to be brainwashed, you simply have to be a lawyer to think that.

However, having judges be totally ignorant of the law wouldn't make things better. They need to be well-versed and understand application. Maybe we should have a further Juris Doctrate degree that focuses on creating judges rather than lawyers.

Im the first one to point out that law school and the bar association are simply there to keep the practice of law a monopoly and that that should end, my paralegal is awsome and would make a better lawyer than many lawyers I know...

My point is that one should have practiced law to be a judge. Now I agree that we shold go back to the old way of "reading the law" as an option of becoming a lawyer.

Interesting.

Interesting.

Whats interesting about it?

There is more than one way to learn the law, law school should not be the only path reconized.

Its set up to keep the general public out! If you cant devote 3 years and a min of $60,000 you cant get to be a lawyer. That is bullshit.

When you graduate from law school, you dont have any idea how to be a lawyer anyway!

On the underlying grounds I am with you. I still belive that a judge should be a learned professional who has practiced law.
