So the prison population doubling during the 1920-1940 period, then again in the 90s, and continuing upwards currently is all the work of Republicans despite democrats being in control during those years? Interesting concept.
However, I'm glad you agree that the WoD is a problem.

What exactly is wrong with me? I've been against the WoD since day one, and I don't understand where you might infer I'm a fan of Nixon.

When they become criminals, it is too late for the human beings planted in the cemetery. This is not the wild west or a fucking jungle, this is supposed to be a civil society. Maybe we should eliminate speed limits and any laws that restrain the 'individual'?

Actuallly the state of Montana did just that. Haven't seen an increase in road deaths yet. And laws that restrict individuals that have no sensibility or possibility of preventing crime (I.E. almost all gun control) are bad and should be removed.

Pretty much at the same point that the ACLU draws that line. The reality is there is this thing called the Constitution that doesn't allow you to do whatever you want, but there is a way to change it. As I said, good luck with that.

There are people out there who believe that "some people shouldn't be allowed to raise children"... so forth. Yet they cannot take their children, even if they really believe that they are a danger.

Tell me, with super majorities in both houses, the WH, and the supposed support in the party to end the WoDs there must have been a repeal of many of the most draconian of the laws. Can you list them?

There is something Bfgrn and I agree on, that is if he believes the WoD should end.

If they're not a felon or mentally dangerous, yes.
EDIT: Actually, I'd go so far as to say if they're not a a DANGEROUS felon (I.E. someone who has committed a violent felony) they should be able to as well.

The liberal era in America ended with LBJ and the conservative era began with Nixon and has been with us ever since. Conservatives have destroyed this country.

I have, yet even they cannot take all the kids those people I spoke about say should be taken.

It simply isn't within their power, they are limited, just as the constitution limits the government.

You asked where my position "defends" criminals, but you don't define what you mean by "criminals"... Have I suggested we change any law that may limit "criminals" from gaining access to weapons? I merely suggest that "the people" in the 2nd Amendment means the same thing as "the people" in every other of the Bill of Rights.

If you want to restrict those rights in some way against the constitution, you'll need to change it. Good luck.

I am talking about eras in this country. The liberal era began with the New Deal and ended with the Great Society.

Assassinations and the Vietnam War decimated the Democratic party. President Kennedy would have ended our involvement in Vietnam after winning a second term. John Kenneth Galbraith who was a close adviser to President Kennedy predicted that if Vietnam were allowed to escalate into a fiasco, it would usher in a new conservative era in American politics. He was right.
