MSNBC apologizes for tweet taunting conservatives over Cheerios Super Bowl ad

:rofl2:

The apology network continues....

In the wake of the Republican National Committee’s call for an effective boycott of MSNBC over an offensive tweet, network president Phil Griffin issued an apology Thursday.

“The tweet last night was outrageous and unacceptable,” Griffin wrote in a statement read on air by The Cycle host Ari Melber, according to Mediate. “We immediately acknowledged it was offensive and wrong, apologized and deleted it.”

“We have dismissed the person responsible for the tweet,” he continued. “I personally apologize to Mr. Priebus and to everyone offended. At MSNBC, we believe in passionate, strong debate about the issues, and we invite voices from all sides to participate. That will never change. Signed, Phil Griffin.”

RNC spokesman Sean Spicer announced shortly thereafter that Priebus accepts the apology.

:rofl2:

A lowly paid intern probably got fired for doing what he was told by his masters at MSNBC...

I didn't know that people could adopt grandchildren.

Yah... If my daughter adopts a kid, then the kid is adopted and my grandchild... When that happens often people who aren't related to me would say this was an adopted grandchild.

All that apparently makes it okay for Democrats to be bigots and start talking about skin pigmentation as if it matters. Good job!

Now, how about talking about the story for which they are apologizing this time. Cheerios commercial, interracial family.

Go!

I'm not so much concerned about the right-wingers or conservatives but more about the average person who doesn't understand that the concept of family is changing that includes inter-racial relationships. I like the logic of some of the people who threaten to stop eating cheerios all because of the initial commercial as if they are the majority of consumers.

To the conservatives!

MSNBC apologizes for tweet taunting conservatives over Cheerios Super Bowl ad starring biracial child

The tweet was sent from the network's official account and was aimed at conservatives, assuming they would be offended by the upcoming Super Bowl spot that revisits an interracial family featured in a 2013 ad. MSNBC later apologized and removed the tweet.

MSNBC is backtracking after it used its Twitter account to taunt conservatives over the Cheerios ad starring an interracial family that will air during the Super Bowl.
"Maybe the rightwing will hate it, but everyone else will go awww: the adorable new #Cheerios ad w/ biracial family," read a tweet posted late Wednesday on the MSNBC account, providing a link to a short article on the news website about the ad.

MSNBC apologized for the "offensive live tweet" and then deleted the message.

"The Cheerios tweet from @msnbc was dumb, offensive and we've taken it down. That's not who we are at msnbc," MSNBC.com Executive Editor Richard Wolffe tweeted.

The tweet posted by MSNBC’s Twitter account, which taunted conservatives, was later removed.

Ironically, it was just weeks ago that the network's own host, Melissa Harris-Perry, had to apologize to Mitt Romney for mocking his adopted black grandson on her show.

Weeks after MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry and a guest panel gleefully mocked the Romneys for adopting a black grandchild, the network sent out a tweet suggesting that the “rightwing” writhes with rage at the sight of a biracial family.

MSNBC has nothing left, might as well change the call letters to DNC....

I am sure that nobody at PMSNBC was told to tweet that particular comment. It is clear that there is a culture at PMSNBC that makes such behaviors seem OK. Never, ever underestimate company culture. It is the same culture that made it OK for people to shut down a bridge. It is the same culture that leads people to use the IRS to target political enemies.

PMSNBC has made a sharp turn left since the election of Obama. That is fine. I don't care as long as they call it for what it is and are honest about it. The point is that the culture at PMSNBC obviously gave this now fired intern the green light to do it. They hear Maddow, Sharpton, Hayes and Schultz bashing the GOP and conservatives on a daily basis, why wouldn't they think it is OK?

I am torn on the GOP screaming for an apology. On one hand it is "how do you douchebags like it"? On the other hand, it just adds to the pussyified world we live in where nobody can say anything mean about you without some sort of boycott or demanding an apology. In the end, I lean toward the latter.

It isn't like anyone watches PMSNBC anyway. And who does Twitter anymore?

I wonder.... can I adopt a nephew? What adoption agency allows aunts and uncles to be able to do that? ;)

There's not a single person who didn't understand the grandchild was adopted by the parents, including you. Why make such a stupid argument? I'd say it's because you're an asshole

robmoney did nothing then huh?

why did they wrap it around him instead of the real parents who commited to a child.

Lets remember Robmoney dad was not right leaning.

Maybe the kid who actually did the adopting isn't right leaning?

Now why did the right get so mad when that biracial ad showed the first time?

What are you even talking about?

An employee did something wrong. A higher up apologised, and did all that could be done to correct the situation. The employee was fired.

Good enough for me. Looks like the message was clear, that behavior will not be tolerated.

Lets see, last week a Republican Congressman threatened to break someone in half, the Republican party did not apologise or ask him to resign....
