MSNBC

I rarely watch the cable news channels, its just not my thing. But tonight I switched between MSNBC and Fox News but mostly stuck with MSNBC.

The first thing that jumped out to me was why was Olbermann the host? It seems like the equivalent of having Hannity host for Fox News. It's like you are saying we have no objectivity with that. The second thing was MSNBC had all liberal voices on their panel. We know Fox News leans right but on their panel they had a couple of Democratic leaning folk. I would think no matter who you are you would at least like to hear a voice/perspective or two from 'the other side'.

Maybe MSNBC's strategy is to say f it we are who we are and we're appealing to left-leaning folks only. I just don't understand how you have Olbermann host and not even one token right leaning voice on there.

It's pandering to their audience. Fox, by virtue of their larger viewership, has been increasingly trying to grab Libertarian and moderate Democrat viewers. MSNBC, and to a lesser extent CNN, have to focus on giving their core demographic what they want in order to compensate ratings wise.

By spouting the same old line they always have?
Andrew Napolitano, increased support for pot, less Bill O'reilly (the last part is a guess since the only Fox I deal with is when my dad comes over).

Yes they still have Glenn Beck, who has become increasingly prevalent, but he is for their base, not their fringe. With a larger base, Fox can play around more with expanding to their fringe group. MSNBC and CNN (same ownership) do not have that luxury at the moment and thus must focus on their core viewers.

Don't you understand it???? They don't see themselves as leaning left at all! They are perfectly in the center! Fair, impartial, and balanced! Like good credible journalists should be! It's FOX who is right as right can be! MSNBC? No way... completely fair and impartial... neutral down the line!

msnbc is by far the smartest and most elite network. I feel dumber everytime i watch foxnews. cnn is meh and doesn't ask the right questions. msnbc is flawless and only for intelligent people like myself. so it's understandable why some in this thread may not like it.

True. How many times have liberals claimed that The Obama was moderate?

How is that an "oops"? You're really braindead, as far as posters go. I do happen to think Obama is a moderate.

But, many conservatives - especially on this board - have said he's "just like Bush."

Where is the contradiction? Do you have a hard time working things out in your brain?

*shrug*

I watched it on all three networks and it is true that MSNBC had only liberal voices on their program. It made for interesting viewing for me though as that is what I expect. I watch MSNBC most of the time. At least when I flipped back to Fox the few times I did (I get tired of their way right stuff) Juan Williams was grilling Rove...and that made for some good exchanges. I do agree with Cawacko that having Olberman host the thing was akin to having Hannity host the one on Fox. And having Maddow on one side and Matthews on the other was like having Beck sit on the panel with O'Reilly. I did see O'Reilly make a cameo once on Fox's program but that was all. Like I say, I was mainly flipping back and forth between MSNBC and CNN. CNN, as usual had the best balanced coverage of the three networks IMO.

The contradiction is that you said that you disagreed with me when I said that liberals think The Obama is moderate. Yet you, a liberal, have stated that he is moderate many times. It wasn't a difficult search either.

Oh, I get it. Your big "win" which you searched like mad for is your interpretation of what I am, and no one else.

Got it. Nice going.

No I searched for the term "moderate" under your name. Other liberals on this board have said that The Obama is moderate as well. You're all the same: lemmings.

You really can't read.

To start with, I am a strong advocate of privatizing SS, keeping the maximum tax rate at or below 33%, and big cuts in gov't spending overall. I don't consider myself a liberal.

Second, I did say - in case you didn't notice - that liberals call him a moderate as much as conservatives say he's "just like Bush." The implication wasn't that there are no conservatives who say he's "just like Bush." It's one of the wonderful contradictions that I've seen on the board time & again - he's a socialist/ he's just like Bush/ he's a socialist....etc.

Got it yet? Probably not.

What I get is you, one of the most liberal posters on this board, now wants to call himself moderate. You need to grow a pair and come out of the closet. :)
