Another summons has been issued to Donald Trump in a case related to the Jan. 6 insurrection.

The former president was served notice Monday of a civil lawsuit filed by the longtime girlfriend of the late Capitol police officer Brian Sicknick alleging conspiracy, wrongful death and other complaints against Trump and two rioters involved in the attack, reported CBS News correspondent Scott MacFarlane.

“The horrific events of January 6 2021, including Officer Sicknick’s tragic, wrongful death, were a direct and foreseeable consequence of the defendants’ unlawful actions,” the suit alleges.

The lawsuit brought by Sandra Garza was filed in District of Columbia federal court the day before the insurrection's second anniversary and demands millions of dollars in damages.

Trump has lost many law suits, it's just a matter of going through all of his appeals. Do you remember trump University and the Trump foundation. Now we can add the entire trump organization. How many other law suits has he thrown money at to get the to end.

Yes. I dont give a fuck who it is. The problem is since most politicians are lawyers there is no way such useless lawsuits will be outlawed. Beyond that there I hope this poor woman is paying her attorney on a contingency but I suspect the schister took then case mostly so he/she could advertise that they sued trump. Whether they win or not is irrelevant

She may actually have a strong case based on court rulings so far. Civil cases don't require guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. They only rely on preponderance of evidence and at least one court has already said that Trump's actions are probably criminal.

Then there is the similar ongoing lawsuit filed by Swalwell against Trump that the court has refused to dismiss against Trump. That refusal to dismiss the case is on appeal but has not yet been accepted for review by the appeals court.

Wrongful death complaints against Trump? LOL! What exactly was Trump's physical role in the death of that Capitol police officer? If anything is to be considered a lawsuit about the riot (and not about a phony insurrection) it should be a lawsuit against that capitol officer who murdered that unarmed female veteran.

None will be. You people realize this isn't like the gender thing right? Things aren't true simply because you think it, feel it or believe it. At least for now people still have to provide evidence. That's where it aways gets sticky. If accusations were convictions trump would be serving 10 life sentences right now.

His company was just convicted of crimes and is awaiting sentencing.

He has lost several civil lawsuits requiring him to shut down his foundation, Trump U and other businesses that were found in court to be fraudulent. The courts just called his filing to dismiss the NY AG's $250 million suit frivolous.

I don't know about her case being terribly strong, although I do applaud the sentiment behind it. She will have to prove that 1) Sicknick's death was a direct result of the attack and wouldn't have otherwise occurred, 2) Trump was clearly culpable in causing the attack, and 3) Sicknick was supporting her, his death caused financial and mental hardship, and that he would have continued to support her had he lived. This part would have been stronger if they had been married. We don't know at this point what their relationship was.

I hope that it doesn't get dismissed out of hand for lack of standing or something. Good for her.
