My Republican Governor, a great governor, leaving the Republican party!

I hope I am wrong and Crist can pull it out with the Republican party, it is what would be good for the Republicans, Floridians and Americans.

I do not belive Rubio will win the general and I dont like the Democrats who currently look likely to win the D nomination.

What's so bad about Meek?

He looks better than Crist in just about every objective measure.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Gov. Charlie Crist said Monday he may quit his GOP primary race and run for the Senate as an independent, his once-promising career threatened by fast-rising conservative opposition.

After weeks of insisting he would stay in the Aug. 24 primary, Crist told The Associated Press in a phone interview he intends to be "very, very thoughtful and deliberate" as he makes up his mind. The governor trails conservative rival Marco Rubio by double-digit margins in public polls after holding a huge lead at the outset.

The race is being closely watched nationally as a test of the strength of the tea party movement vs. more moderate Republicans. Rubio rose from obscurity to a favorite among conservatives with strong support from tea party activists. Crist, a moderate leader in one of the nation's largest states, had been considered a potential GOP presidential or vice presidential nominee.

I guess I was not so wrong after all.

This is the kinda shit Tea Baggers are doing to the Republican party.... They are drumbing out the sensable and good polititians, its bad for the REpublican party and for America.!

tea party people are trying to drumb out the incumbents, you know the ones that helped get us into this financial mess. That's not to say new folk will necessarily do any better but saying that we have to stick with the status quo is weak bull sh*t.

apparently there are more conservatives than moderates in florida, so how is this bad for republicans?

I find myself asking the same question. It is one ideology over another and how far to the right on the spectrum the electorate is. Evidently Crist isn't who they want. If the more conservative republican gets the nod then he's still got to beat the democrat. That's the way it works.

Oh, I won't hold it against Crist either if he does go independent. I do think he should find out if his donors want their money back or not if he does.....and I know that won't happen.

He vowed he would never run as an Independent. If he does, his word is just as good as BO's word.

Im likely to vote for Crist, if he has a chance, I really do not like the Republican and Im not a huge fan of Meek.
