NASA says its Curiosity rover has made a discovery on Mars, but isn't saying more.

He's not talking about the theory espoused by Darwin. He is referring to a post-modern theory regarding Abiogenesis, where people have taken Darwin's theories to make up their own theory of origin, and call it "Evolutionary Theory." Most mainstream Christians do not believe that Darwin's theory of evolution contradicts The Bible.

Is this simply "your guess"?

I personally belive that Evolution does not contradict the Bible, I believe however that many fundies belive differently.

On CBN's The 700 Club, host Pat Robertson claimed that "the evolutionists worship atheism" and that because "evolution becomes their religion" it is "an establishment of religion contrary to the First Amendment." Robertson went on to suggest that evolution advocates were "fanatics," stating further, "it is a religion, it is a cult. It is cultish religion." - http://mediamatters.org/video/2005/12/19/robertson-claimed-evolutionists-worship-atheism/134479

ROTFLMAO, I thought you said those in the mainstreem never say anything like this? Youve never heard of it! Your uncle told you so!

You are argueing yourself into very comical circles.

Do you see what you are doing. You lumped HUCKABEE, RUBIO and ROBERTSON together and made a wild ass claim about "Christian Fundies" to which I rebuked. NOW... you want to isolate Robertson, even though I admittedly stated that he has said some crazy shit... You are a dishonest debater. You pull this shit all the time on everyone, and it's why no one takes you seriously here, Jughead. You dance and dodge and weave around your silly statements, and try to find some way to dishonestly proclaim a 'victory' over your detractor. It's really pathetic.

LOL... OH... So YOU are a Christian, and you believe that evolution doesn't contradict the Bible, but all the 'fundies' like Rubio and Huck, they don't believe it? Does this have something to do with the (R) beside their names? Just curious?

A video wherein, Pat Robertson and Ray Comfort attack "Darwinism".

Normally, I refuse to go to left-wing anti-religious propaganda sites, it's a moral principle. However, I am pleased that I did so this time, and got to watch this video. Mr. Comfort raises some very valid points and makes a compelling argument, and I encourage not only you, but ALL "critical thinkers" to watch it! You may actually learn something! Now, I have stripped your anti-religious blog site so they don't get credit for the YouTube hits, and directly linked the video here. Enjoy!

Now for the context. Comfort and Robertson are talking about the post-modern incarnation of "Darwinism" which is the belief that Darwin's theories on evolution, can and do explain our origin as a species. Obviously, mainstream Christians, or really ANY believers in a God, can't possibly believe that our origin is explained by Darwin's theories. The theories regarding evolution are about changes in species, how species evolve and develop over time. Darwin draws NO conclusion regarding origin. Some people have perverted Darwin's theories into a modern-day Religious belief in "Darwinism" or "Evolutionary Theory" and it is rooted in a concept they describe as "Abiogenesis."

So basically, we have the actual context of Darwin and his theories, and then we have the modern-day context of "Darwinism" which presumes we are the product of evolution and God doesn't exist. When I say, most mainstream Christians do not dispute Darwin's theories, this is what I mean, they do not dispute what Darwin wrote in actuality. The DO dispute the post-modern incarnation of Darwinism, and the notion that we were not the product of creation originally.

Um... Yeah, believers in God can believe that evolution could be a tool used by The Deity to create mankind... One shouldn't generalize stupidly while trying to say others are stupid.

Ahh, so now when Pat Robertson talks about Darwinism is not really Darwinsim, I am starting to see the geometry of your Republican logic now. If presented wwith a quote that shows you to be an idiot, just pretend that the word has two different meanings and that when you used the word it ment one thing but when the other used it, the word ment something else. So when Robertson attacks "Darwinism", he really means "Evolution theory" clearly... because you are on record as saying that Robertson is mainstreem and noone who is mainstreem disbelives Darwinism. Gotcha!

I belive in a Universal and that evolution was a tool used by the Universal to create the world as we know it.

Summary...

Me: Many Fundies dont belive in Evolution.

Dixie: Sure they do, everyone I know does, including my uncle. Ive never heard of anyone who does not belive in Evolution.

Me: Scopes Monkey Trial

Dixie: That was 87 years ago.

Me: So you have heard of it. Check out what Fundy Pat Robertson said

Dixie: He was talking about Evolution Theory not Darwinism. We all know Evolution Theory is bunk.

Me: See this video where Robertson attacks Darwinism.

Dixie: ...

I agree with you, but I doubt "they" would. The fundy's only let Galelo out of jail a short while ago and they did not admit the world was round untill well after that.

Everybody thought the world was flat for a long time, that was a consensus maybe they were late to the round Earth party but so what.

Everybody thought the world was flat for a long time, that was a consensus maybe they were late to the round Earth party but so what.

The point is that when it becomes obvious that they are wrong, the fundy's hold on to an outdated belife as knoledge much longer than non-fundy's. Its a pattern and a history that continues till this day.

So, lets pretend that NASA has discovered microbial life. Real biological Martian life. How will the Christian Fundy's react? They pretend that evolution is not real because they belive it does not fit in with there story. How would Martian life fit in with the story?

What will Pat Robertson, Huckabee and Rubio say?

They'll just say god put it there.

We have two distinctly different things here. We have "Darwin's Theory of Evolution" and we have "Darwinism." These are completely different ideas and concepts, but you are attempting to make them the same concept for sake of this argument. Pay attention... Darwin proposed a theory of Evolution, in it, he made NO CLAIMS about origin of our species or any other. Through the years, proponents of Darwin's theory have used the title of his book "The Origin of a Species" and created a false conclusion, that our origin is the product of evolution. Darwin simply did not prove this or claim this.

No one who believes in Christianity, that Jesus Christ was the living Son of God, can believe that we were not created by God but through Abiogenesis. It's impossible to hold both beliefs. It's also pretty much impossible to believe we are the creative product of evolution alone, yet also believe in Jesus and God. When I state that Christians do not refute Evolution, I do not mean Darwinism, or the belief that we all originated from nothing. Most ANY believer in God, Christian or not, refutes that notion.

Jughead has presented this same line of thinking before. What if we discovered intelligent life on another planet, what would the God believers say? Would it spell the end for Religion? Would the Bibleists go away and shut the fuck up? It was something along those lines, I can't recall exactly.

I do recall I turned the scenario on it's ear by asking; what if we discovered intelligent life on another planet and they worshiped God like we do? What would the God-deniers say? Would it spell an end to Atheism? Would bigoted anti-religious scumbuckets go away and shut up?

Jughead, there is no need for this. I have a life, and things to do. I don't just sit here night and day waiting for you to post so I can respond. My lack of response is certainly not because you've said something so profound it has silenced me in every way, please don't let yourself think that. I assure you, that is never going to ever be the case between you and I. If by some chance in the future, I should not respond to you, it's most likely because what you're posting is not worth my response. In most of those cases, I have already pwned you and mounted your ass on my wall of shame, and there really is nothing more I can do, other than be a humanitarian and walk away.

Spin Dixie Spin....

BTW, I belive that that Jesus was the Living Son of God, that God created Man, and that such creation was done via what we now call evolution.
