Native Americans sue for voting rights

Again, already answered. What does equal rights mean to you? If every county gets 40 days to vote early and ONE county gets 6 days, is that equal?

Especialy since:
1. It is the poorest of all counties.
2. It is 80% democrat.
3. It is an indian reservation.
4. It is a continuation in a long series of indian voter dis-enfranchisement.

how does that answer the question of whether there is a separate right to EARLY voting? you and dune keep avoiding it. i wonder why.

they have the same 'rights' as every other county. they have had 40 days in the past and could have it now.

prove it. how did i make this political?
Yurt I have talked to you for years.

YOU lie and you refuse cold hard documented evidence.

I am no longer going to answer anything you post.

No I am not putting you on ignore, I have never done that and never will.

I am merely not going to speak to you any more because you do not recognise facts.

It does NO good to talk to someone who refuses to discuss adult matters without the benifit of facts.

You are worthless to the conversation.

If what you have to add to a converstion is repeted by someone else I will answer that poster.

Anything you say and NO one backs you on might as well not exsist.

Bye yurt.

Have a nice life.

LOL.

I thought you read the article, shit for brains. They clearly said they don't think their vots get counted if they mail their ballots.

That is just absurd. so if I say 'I don't think my vote is counted at the polling location' does that mean the state must issue another way for me to vote?

LIAR

That is what they think. They don't trust that their votes will be counted. They did have an alternative until a republican took it away.
If I wasn't a victim of dis-enfranchisement in '04, I might agree with you.

No but every voter should have the same options no matter who they are dont you think?

Do me a favor, please cite your reference for saying a Republican took away their alternative. Where is it that occurred?

I would also be interested to hear how you were a victim. What happened?

As I stated, the state knows how poor this county is and they should make an exception to their rule for them in terms of funding or they need to find an alternative as Tom and I were discussing. That said, saying everyone deserves the same amount of early voting days, I don't know that I do agree with that. If a county has 7700 registered voters and another country has 100,000, do they both need the same? As long as there is ample opportunity to vote, I don't think same number of days should matter so much.

That said, If travel is the issue, then I don't know why absentee balloting is not used more for them.

I did read the article. Nowhere in it does a Rep take away their rights.

The Oglalas’ complaint names state and county officials, including Jason Gant, secretary of state and overseer of elections for South Dakota
Gant’s official website shows he is not just secretary of state but treasurer of Committed to Victory, a PAC whose purpose is “to elect Republican candidates,” according to documents Gant (as treasurer) submitted to Gant (as secretary of state) in 2011.

Looks like you missed this paragraph.

No, I read it. Now go back and find when this requirement became law in SD. Go back and tell us how it takes away a 'right'. All counties are treated in the exact same manner. So it treats everyone fairly and equally under the law.

The fact that there should be an exception made due to the financial situation of this county is another matter and one that should be addressed. But in no way does it 'take away rights' and you have yet to show anything that says it was Gant or just Reps that created this requirement.

Maybe they are suing Gant because they don't like him?

Or because he is the CURRENT overseer of the elections?

I will let you in on a secret... my guess is that sometime in the past the LEGISLATURE passed the requirement. The governor then signed it. The Sec State enforces it.

did you read the article? and yes, they have the same rights. the issue here appears to be about money and certain districts don't have enough money to have long early voting periods. according to the article, they can get reimbursed, but this district, doesn't have the funds. if you had read the article, you would see that previously they did have the same early voting period because of donations.

is there a seperate right to early voting?
I see. Couln't that be viewed as a form of poll taxing? Should the period of time for open voting be based on a districts ability to pay?
