I think you are confusing republicans and libertarians. We share a few goals (at least with fiscal conservatives). But there is a vast difference.

I am not even sure Zimmerman's intent was to kill. He may just be a young fool that bought into the lies. Trayvon was angry at being harassed. It's quite understandable to anyone that grew up at the bottom of the ladder. It has NOTHING to do with his race. It has to do with becoming frustrated by the constant suspicion of some fat old fart that fears the younger man who wears a hoodie, has the wrong skin color, listens to the wrong music, has a tattoo, wears his hair the wrong way, comes from the wrong family, hangs out with the wrong colored kids, is among The Outsiders or whatever fucking nightmare they piss themselves over, is looking to steal from him.

Most active and committed Libertarians would NEVER support such a thing. These are the do nothings that love wooden shoes and never go out in the sun. Libertarian Republicans OFTEN do the same thing. So do Republicans that are trying to rid themselves of the scent of old stinky Bush's.
