New Polling Shows Support Growing for Legal Abortion

"In the year since, polling shows that what had been considered stable ground has begun to shift: For the first time, a majority of Americans say abortion is “morally acceptable.” A majority now believes abortion laws are too strict. They are significantly more likely to identify, in the language of polls, as “pro-choice” over “pro-life,” for the first time in two decades.

And more voters than ever say they will vote only for a candidate who shares their views on abortion, with a twist: While Republicans and those identifying as “pro-life” have historically been most likely to see abortion as a litmus test, now they are less motivated by it, while Democrats and those identifying as 'pro-choice' are far more so...."

The litmus test claim is bullshit. For decades whenever a SC nomination came up dems demanded to know the candidates stance on abortion. The whole argument is disingenuous. Currently only 14 states ban abortion at every stage of pregnancy.

That article is wrong

Most voters are not single issue voters and if they were the amount that consider abortion as their top issue would be practically zero

This is the crap you get from readers the times

It cost them elections last year. It will cost them even more next, esp. if they keep the #ApricotAbomination as their nominee.

I will never understand the women who openly support the GOP Handmaid's Tale Misogyny Laws.

I thought that submissive female masochists only really existed in fictional porn,
but I was clearly wrong.

The American people care about inflation, the economy, the borders, crime...these things affect people in their every day lives.

Biden's priorities include trans freaks and how many illegals he can get through his open borders and how many criminals can go unpunished...including himself and his own son.

Nope, the QOP is rife with kickmebeatme women, particularly among the evangelicals.

Incorrect and irrelevant. None of the justices who voted to reverse Roe stated opposition to the law before joining the court. And what voters think is a different matter entirely.

Abortion is a states issue not a national issue. If the majority of people support it they should take it up with their state legislature.

That just happened in an interesting way in Richmond where I live. In the district next to my own, a Republican incumbent to the state legislature was defeated in a primary by a Republican newcomer who took the rare position for his party in declaring support for legal abortion.

The abortion issue was fatal to republican candidates in the past year, and will continue to be going forward. The majority of Americans support a woman's choice, and that why you will continue to lose elections.

In the end most GOP candidates successfully skirt around the issue, kinda like GOP candidates for the SCOTUS, they either won’t directly confront the issue, or, just lie, tell them what they want to hear

And A-FUCKING-GAIN leftists fot decades demanded to know SC candidates view on abortion. Calling it a republican litmus test is purely delusional
