New strategy on Obamacare

Republicans have no plans at the moment to bring up a bill to repeal the law.

During a news conference on Tuesday, Republican leaders didn't utter the word "repeal" once.

Instead, they promoted reports that people have been canceled from their low-coverage insurance plans and that insurance plans in the exchanges have dropped doctors and hospitals from plan options.

"The American people want to be able to pick their own type of health insurance, they want to be able to pick their own doctor and they want to be able to pick their own hospital," House Majority Leader Boehner told reporters.

Problems with the Affordable Care Act exist beyond its balky website. The troubled roll out of Obamacare has also forced the President to delay multiple important components of the law, including the insurance marketplace for small businesses and the requirement that businesses with 50 or more employees provide their workers with health insurance or face fines.

Now, voters are starting to experience bad news. As the law is being implemented, millions are either losing health care or having premiums go up, and Republicans want to make sure that everyone recognizes that.

"Never interfere when your opponent is committing suicide," Michael Tanner, senior fellow working on health care at the libertarian Cato Institute, said.

If the law proves unworkable and not beneficial for Americans, expect Democrats to join with Republicans to alter the law.

If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.

Consider the priorities Obama highlighted in the State of the Union a year ago.

  • *He said this year would be "our best chance for bipartisan, comprehensive tax reform." It's stalled.

*He wanted "to make high-quality preschool available to every single child in America." It isn't.

*He said "the time has come to pass comprehensive immigration reform." It hasn't.

*He proposed raising the minimum wage, saying "we should be able to get that done." Apparently not.

I really don't understand why Boehner and crew have such a hard time figuring all of this out.

The American people have replaced a Democrat majority in the House of Representatives with a Republican majority only two times in the past 60 years:

*In Nov 1994 to obstruct Hillarycare
*In Nov 2010 to obstruct Obamacare

The mission was clear; FIGHT!

The mission was not; Whine, complain, and allow the train wreck to proceed forward and cause all kinds of havoc.

Republicans lost ground in '12. Fight, indeed. Keep tilting at windmills, and '14 will complete the Dem resurgence.

You may start your narrative in 2012 if you care to. I'll start my narrative in 2009, when the GOP had no ground to lose, when the Dems held the White House, the House of Representatives, and a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. The Dems had all the ground to lose.

First to go was the filibuster-proof majority.... and in the gravest insult of all, Leftard Massachusetts sent a Republican to Ted Kennedy's Senate seat.

Next to go was the House of Representatives in a sweeping mandate.

If any ground is being lost at this point, it's because the GOP isn't opposing this Obamacare wreck with sufficient verve, as they were elected to do.

it is interesting that the GOP majority in the house is referred to as a "sweeping mandate", when, across the country, more voters voted for democratic house candidates than republican ones... only gerrymandering took a losing hand and made it a winner.
