I think he is would like to run in 2024 but if Trump (when) wins the nomination he will run in 2028 when Trump can't run. Trump just has too much momentum .

He is getting a lot of credit for coming clean but ya, greasy is what this is.

And very likely the next President with maybe a small break because Biden cant ride that far.
 
Struck by all the people on X over the last couple of weeks saying some version of "Oh now I get it....he is running for President".

I say that he is probably intend to be the Revolutions candidate, but some still think it is to be M Obama.

I'm voting, as I have in every presidential election since 1968, for the nominee of my party.
Right now, that looks very much like Biden.

I'm not the least bit happy about it,
but come the general election,
it doesn't look as if I'll be offered
a better option.

A small piece of granite
chipped off a tombstone
would be a better choice than the orange candidate
in the orange jumpsuit.

Newsom is smart enough to realize that would allow trump to win, and would make him an outcast. In short, it is a Republican fantasy.

Newsom's policies were delayed by Covid, but are now are beginning to be implemented. He hopes they will be successful when fully implemented in a couple of years, and would probably be eying a Presidential run in 2028, 2032, or even 2036. In 2036, he will still be 69, not very old for a President.

Even in 2044, Newsom will be younger than trump is now.

DeSantis is desperate to debate someone. trump is treating him as a nobody.

Worth noting that Florida has a much higher murder rate than California. You would expect the younger state to have the higher murder rate, young people are more likely to murder. But Florida is one of the oldest states, and California is one of the youngest states.

Florida is better at getting federal handouts to keep it from completely collapsing.

You can hope, but there is a very real chance that trump will be running in 2028, and complaining about how the last two elections were stolen from him.

Of course there is also a chance trump will be dead because of his old age, and extremely bad health. Also he might be in prison, though he could run anyway. he could even win the election...

Momentum? Is that what you call a half dozen court cases he cannot win because he is guilty? You do not care how many laws he breaks and how crude and stupid he is, but Trump will lose lots of voters as he loses case after case. He likely will wind up in jail. I know, you would still vote for him.
