Be nice to her but keep telling her that. you might get her one of these. https://jpxintl.com/ Check California's laws but ATF ruled they are not guns (check that too). I know a policeman that carries one and says it is HIGHLY effective.I'm not endorsing anything, I'm saying what people are posting on Facebook. Even in California it is still legal to own a gun. And there are certain elements of self defense laws allowed in the state. That's not vigilantism.
Offering grace, if you live in a low crime area this is not something you would understand. Oakland is a City where less than 5% of voters are Republicans. There aren't a bunch of right-wing gun lovers. But when crime is high and the City is failing in its job to protect its citizens, people are going to do what they feel they have to do to protect themselves. (I'll share an example of the mindset out here. My wife, when sitting at long red lights, likes to look at her phone. I go ballistic on her. I tell her if you are in SF or Oakland you must always be aware of your surroundings, doesn't matter if it's a red light - you keep your eyes up and head on a swivel. Thieves today don't care if you're in the car, they'll rob/attack you anyway.)
I'm guessing you probably live in a relatively safe neighborhood so all this doesn't register with you. But when people don't feel safe, ideology goes out the window real quick. (same reason our progressive D.A. in San Francisco got recalled and they're trying to recall the progressive D.A. in Alameda County)
PAC 12 is best conference in the country. We play nine conference games while most other conferences play eight, which guarantees our teams six more losses and always hurts us in the rankings. But that still doesn't take away the quality of our play this year.
Cause we all know scary looking guns look scary .Newsome is a Democrat who's against people owning guns.
I'm a Democrat who's cool with anything but AR-15 looking shit.
We cancel each other out.
Next subject.

Everyone was a law abiding citizen at one point in their lives. This law wont impact the people you want to stop, now matter how much you think it will.
This does nothing to stop the "Iron Pipeline" except for LAW ABIDING CITIZENS.

News does not want a single mom to own a firearm to protect herself from the crime that is increasing in California. Newsom likened this tax to a SIN TAX. The law abiding legal gun owners are not the sinners. I have owned guns for ~60 years and currently own multiple guns including scary AR 15s with night vision. I have never even pointed a gun at anyone. Newsom wants to take guns away from people like me. Remember when you need police in seconds the police are only minutes away.
Should gun owners be taxed out of the ability to afford a gun?
Now “law bidding citizens” buy access guns via the Iron Pipeline?

So you are endorsing vigilantism? It is the same type thinking that gets a kid shot when they innocently ring the wrong doorbell or pull into a strangers driveway to turn around
Getting the guns off the streets would be a better approach, admittedly not easy, but you can start with access, and as long as any Californian can drive to a neighboring State, purchase a gun on the Internet, or the Iron pipeline is halted, Oakland will continue to resemble Dodge City of lore
(and by the way, nothing on the PAC’s football success? Thought you’d be all over it by now)
I work with investors from all over the country and they always ask about what's going on in SF. Because it's business I stay away from the politics when responding. If pushed the one answer I'll give is one can be a liberal or conversative, yet still be pragmatic and get things done. Or one can be an ideologue. And SF has far too many of the latter, thus the issues we have.
Respectfully, when it comes to guns, you fit the ideologue category. We all know there are very few, if any, places that have no crime. Urban areas have always had crime, it's just a reality. A City like Oakland, in a certain sense, almost prides itself on that in that it's a blue collar/gritty City. You have to have a certain toughness to be from here. So with that back drop, it is now so bad that some people still feel like they have no choice but to possibly arm themselves to stay safe. Yet your response is they think they are vigilantes who are on going to shoot kids at their front door?! That's an ideologue.
I wonder if Newsome's security detail are sinners and carry guns.when Biden drops out, Newsom has made himself unelectable......will Kennedy be the left's only option?......
This is a white lib war to disarm the poor. Especially, Blacks and other minorities. Pure leftist racism.
Didn’t say anyone was a vigilante, just ask you if you we’re recommending vigilantism
Every city, least those over say two hundred thousand, have problems with crime, and always have, but that doesn’t characterize the whole city, nor justify everyone should start packing. Never been to Oakland, and don’t know how it fits into this profile, but can’t believe all of Oakland is the wild Wild West, or justifies everyone living in Oakland should pack 24/7
Just having a gun in your presence elevates the chances of you being hurt by a gun, and given that America has already has more guns out there than people and we also have more gun violence than any other developed country, so I don’t think one is an ideologue for questioning if adding more guns is a good idea
Wait a minute, frequently heard here from posters as yourself that those people living in the inner cities are the ones who shoot up everything and not the law biding white guy in rural America so now you are saying this is a racist attempt against those people?
As long as they own and use it legally more power to them. Some people would think I am a gun nut but I have guns for conceal carry. I have a couple of different guns for different purposes. A .380 for appendix carry and a 9 mm for back carry. It all depends on what kind of clothing I'm wearing and how it will conceal a gun. I don't CC unless I go into Dallas where there is more crime. I hunt and have rifles and shotguns for that and I have AR 15 for controlling feral hogs on the farm. I have not touched a gun since early spring though and won't until hunting season unless I go to Dallas. I also have some guns that I enjoy target shooting with a Kimber 45 cal. It is just fun to shoot. I only shoot it at the gun range. Again I have owned guns for ~60 years and I have never pointed on at another person. So what is my "SIN " of owning several?
