People become obsessed about their 'race', like the racists over here, who claim to be pure Anglo-Saxon, yet if you trace their ancestory they aren't.

It becomes a badge people can wear.

But race is still bollocks, especially these days. We are all mixed race.

But the visual similarities generally considered to "define the races" are based on genetic relatedness. In other words, inividuals of a "race" look similar not by accident, but due to shared genes. To the extent that performance is based on physiology and physiology is based on genes, individuals more closely related genetically will tend to exhibit similar performance traits. This of course, DOES NOT justify legal racism or the codification in any fashion of racial preferences.

Is it racism that blacks are overrepresented statistically in the nba? Or are they just good at basketball? Maybe white men can't jump.

Only if we maintain focus on "race". Instead of the continued focus on pigmentation, we should focus on the reason such inconsequential differences have become such a factor on society. Instead of legislating based on those same "differences" we should focus on other core values that would maintain help where needed, without regard to the pigmentation.

When the Irish were the new immigrants and "Micks" were looked down upon who dominated boxing? I'll give you a hint, it wasn't the German descendants. It isn't because they were genetically predisposed to boxing, it was because it was one of the few ways that a poor "mick" with a crappy education could get "ahead". If it is seen as your only exit, you will aim for it. It isn't genetic predisposition that makes this happen, it is what they see as one of their few "outs".

Only if we maintain focus on "race". Instead of the continued focus on pigmentation, we should focus on the reason such inconsequential differences have become such a factor on society. Instead of legislating based on those same "differences" we should focus on other core values that would maintain help where needed, without regard to the pigmentation.

It's not all socioeconomic. Africans Americans dominate sprinting because of a certain kind of muscle fiber called "fast twitch" which is fast but tires quicker.

Plus, mexicans are just best at picking lettuce. True artisans.

I don't believe in taking actions to manipulate racial mixtures in any population, or hair color.

We're all individuals.
