Anyways, to remain on topic, I'll ask AGAIN, since no one has decided to answer me.... WHAT is the purpose behind freedom of speech and the right to protest? Why are those rights articulated and enumerated in the Constitution? This is an honest question.

The purpose is so that 'we the people' are able to dissent from those we elect to govern. It is so the minority (as well as majority) have a right to be heard. The right to protest and speak out were enumerated so that each of us could stand up for what we believe in, voice our concerns/positions/opposition and still be protected from unjust repercussions from the government. It was designed that way to avoid turning the political elite into a ruling class. To protect David from Goliath (whether Goliath be government or corporation or individual)
