Colin Kaepernick Receives Prestigious Harvard Award For Black Excellence

Former NFL player Colin Kaepernick received Harvard’s prestigious W.E.B. Du Bois medal on Thursday for his tireless protests of police brutality and racial inequality.

The medal is given to people who have “made significant contributions to African and African-American history and culture” as well as “individuals who advocate for intercultural understanding and human rights,” according to Harvard’s Hutchins Center for African & African American Research.

In his acceptance speech, Kaepernick spoke about members of a high school football team he met in Oakland, California.

“I feel like it’s not only my responsibility, but all our responsibilities as people that are in positions of privilege, in positions of power, to continue to fight for them and uplift them, empower them,” he went on. “Because if we don’t, we become complicit in the problem.”

Considering there are a number of black folks still protesting the NFL I'm trying to understand what substantive victory is gained by increased ratings? Are ratings up because almost no one is kneeling anymore? I guess I don't even get what symbolism is gained by increased ratings

There aren't blacks protesting the NFL because of the league's response to the players kneeling? None of that is true either?

What am I cherry picking? That makes no sense. I'm asking what increased NFL viewership means you win?

Then you either don't follow what's written about black NFL fans or you just choose to take TTQ64's side when she is lying again if you think black fans haven't been protesting the league. (NOt all but there are groups doing it)

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The San Francisco 49ers have apologized for initially leaving Colin Kaepernick out of a photo gallery celebrating the team's history against the Green Bay Packers.

The 49ers posted dozens of photos on their website of past games against the Packers before the teams meet again Monday night, but at first did not include any of Kaepernick.

The team later added photos of Kaepernick. This is the first photo gallery the 49ers have run this year; pictures of Kaepernick were included in all seven galleries posted on the team's website last year.

"Unfortunately there were a handful of obvious misses in this gallery posted by our website team and we appreciate them being brought to our attention," the 49ers said in a statement. "The 49ers organization has tremendous respect and gratitude for the contributions Colin made to our team over the years."

Have we just forgotten recent history? It was liberals who were first protesting the NFL because of CTE and the violence and then the off the field issues. You have wealthy white owners getting rich off a league of majority black athletes who were having their brains and bodies ruined. They thought the league was also going soft on domestic violence and other forms of off the field violence. Then you had a number of blacks protesting the league because they wouldn't give Kaep a job.

So I know everything is about Trump to you and that's your right but it doesn't change those facts.
