I think I've mentioned before my recent experience where a family in Hong Kong put a home in Richmond, CA under contract with us. The wife came out to view the property and when I drove her around the neighborhood (which has a large black population) and when she got home she dropped out of contract. What I found is when a potential Chinese asks 'how's the neighborhood' what they mean is are there black people there. Not sure why people in China who I'm assuming have very little interaction with blacks hold that attitude towards them but it seems they do. In the Bay Area there is also often tension between blacks and Chinese.

Sorry, this is a bit long, but it is better than trying to engage with the fools who will ridicule it.
One thing at a time. This will cover what you ask above and will explain what I and countless millions feel and why people like Romney will never be truly welcome anywhere outside America.
You are treating the words racism and black (or African American) as being almost synonymous. That is your American upbringing.

The Chinese are probably the most racist people in the world, racism is sanctioned by their government and by their language and culture, but it has nothing to do with being black. It has to do with being different. So Hong Kongers don’t like mainlanders. Mainlanders don’t like Hong Kongers. Mainlanders don’t like the Taiwanese. Hong Kongers don’t like the Shanghainese, etc. When, a few months ago, I tried to discover where this mistrust and dislike begins I asked the question, ‘Who is a foreigner?’

Mainlanders? No.
Taiwanese? No,
Macanese? No.
Japanese? No.
Vietnamese? No.

Philipinos? Yes. Westerners? Yes. Black people? Yes. So in their world it is, and they will tell you this, yellow people and others. End of story.

People say to me, Oh, you have been in Hong Kong for ‘n’ years. You are a permanent resident. So therefore you have three stars on your ID card. To which I answer, ‘I can never have three stars because I am not ethnically Chinese.’
I have told this story before of a secretary of mine who would not enter a lift that had a guy from Ghana (a senior consultant) in it. ‘Why?’ I asked.
Simple answer: ‘Aids! If I get into the same lift I will get Aids.’

For me that is just too far back in human development to even try to put it right.

America has a different problem. It is the ‘blame’ game. The ‘resentment’ game. ‘We’ don’t like black people because:
a) until recently they served us,
b) because they are taking our jobs/money/whatever.

The second, of course mirrors Hitler’s Germany and the Jews.

Now, I know that people like me, of a certain age, were brought up with certain prejudices, and most of us have tried to stifle and logically fight those prejudices that were put into our young minds. So when someone admits they treat ‘differently’ coloured people as different I can give them something of a pass.

BUT when someone is so woefully ignorant that, despite all the evidence to the contrary and despite recent social changes and laws, would rather be led by a man who is
a) a proven liar,
b) a man who has entered the presidential race because he is rich- not because he has policies and who waits for polls to tell him what he should promote,
c) a man who follows the ‘teachings’ of a convicted felon, a man who lied and cheated and was eventually murdered for his pains,
d) a man who thinks running a nation of 300 million souls is like running a factory making washers,
e) a man who literally does not know where his foreign allies are and more importantly does not know where the countries of his enemies are,

rather than a coloured man who, despite the problems thrust upon him by global affairs, has managed not only to stop the slide started by his predecessor but to show signs of a definite economic turn around and then they excuse their revolting prejudice by citing an occurrence in Libya when an American Ambassador was killed and rather than help make sure it never happens again get a hard on because they think they have a stick with which to beat the black guy.

No where else, I promise you, no where else would those people scream that filth and walk free.

I don’t hate America. I like America. I look forward to an America with whom the world can be at ease, an America whose president and people are welcomed wherever they go,

but I will join with the millions round the world who hate what America has become and I will do the little I can to fight this evil that you call the right wing of the republican party.

We saw it in Germany in the 30s. We won’t sit back and allow the ‘Razors’ and ‘Dixies’ and ‘I-like-Americas’ to fuck up our world again.

You are a young man with a good future. You appear to have some social responsibility and intelligence. You know, or you should know, that as Churchill said, ‘jaw, jaw, is better than war, war.

You really cannot afford to vote for Romney.
