I believe my approach has been consistent with the spirit of #MeToo; I did not automatically assume Reade was lying, but instead allowed the investigative process to run its course. I did my best to listen carefully and respectfully. However, I have now reached the point where I’m comfortable declaring that the incident described by Reade did not happen.
