No one knows why we invaded and occupied Afghanistan.

It's the war of every administration that fought it, including Obama's and Trump's. In his typical chickenshit fashion Trump ordered an end to it, cut U.S. forces down to a useless 2,500, then left everything hanging out of fear he would be criticized when the end came as it is only coming now because Biden was willing to do it and take the unavoidable hit. Maybe it could have ended more smoothly, maybe not, but it was not going to be pretty in any event.

It is Bush's war since he invaded. That is uncontestable. But neither Obama nor Trump ended it.
Biden ended it.

Hmmm ... the horse got out .... time to close the barn door. It's a little late to spend time discussing this ... how about being concerned for the americans still in afghan ...

But then a dimlib asked the question .... looks like an attempt to divert attention from the real problem ... typical dimlib.

Please use Standard English from now on.

An MSNBC host said she believe 95% of the American people support Biden for ending the war. But 95% of journalists oppose Biden for ending the war.
She was right. Washington Post and New York Times has many editorials about Biden being a failed president because he ended the war.

I've seen the NYT and the Washington Post bat both ways regarding Biden's Afghanistan deployment.

It just depends on who's OPed you read.

But that's OK, I like the balance approach. I want to know exactly what my political adversaries are thinking.

As for the Mainstream Media, I think they are just trying to prove that they are balanced, but are just caught up in the emotions.

Notice how most of the anchors are so young they probably missed watching the film clips of the Vietnam War ending and our military getting out with their lives in the last days. I didn't expect a ticker tape parade down Broadway as I already knew this was going to be as bad as we have ever seen before- no matter whether Trump or Biden or anyone else was in office. But I have always been in consensus with Trump and Biden regarding bringing our troops home from Afghanistan and ending that military mission.

Ending wars are emotional to watch and a lot of the Mainstream Media news guests and hosts are being over-dramatic about it and certainly all having their own personal background agendas playing out.

Cooler heads are going to prevail, and as more truth is revealed people are going to understand that bringing troops home from a war is never going to be pretty.

Biden's favorability rates declining somewhat is natural and just temporary and goes with the job at hand.

He's got more than this to think about than his ratings!

He's still doing all the right things.

Yes, there are mixed editorials. But they seem mostly to be bashing Biden and saying his presidency has ended. Ridiculous.

President Obama, who hoped to sow peace, instead led the nation in war

Before he took office in 2008, Barack Obama vowed to end America’s grueling conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. During his second term, he pledged to take the country off what he called a permanent war footing.

“Our systematic effort to dismantle terrorist organizations must continue,” he said in May 2013. “But this war, like all wars, must end. That’s what history advises. It’s what our democracy demands.”

But Obama leaves a very different legacy as he prepares to hand his commander-in-chief responsibilities to Donald Trump.

U.S. military forces have been at war for all eight years of Obama’s tenure, the first two-term president with that distinction. He launched airstrikes or military raids in at least seven countries: Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Somalia and Pakistan.

Yet the U.S. faces more threats in more places than at any time since the Cold War, according to U.S. intelligence. For the first time in decades, there is at least the potential of an armed clash with America’s largest adversaries, Russia and China.

NOW, WHO'S WAR WAS IT, AGAIN????

Always the Trump angle lol.

Trump was shooting for a *conditional* withdrawal in May but tragically, it would seem, he wasn’t re-elected. There’s no reason to think he wasn’t going to follow through since he took all sorts of heat over Syria.

It’s been said a thousand different ways: it wasn’t the withdrawal. It was the execution of the withdrawal.

So? You're smarter than the US Military. Awesome.

Nor can they tell us how Biden is the blame for any of the shit they are blaming him for.

Just wild ass accusations from people who have not a clue about what they are talking about!

You're really wondering why people see the cluster fvck that has been our attempted exit from Afghanistan and have questions aimed at the C.I.C. who ordered it? Most people in this country want us out of Afghanistan but that doesn't mean they give zero sh*ts about how it was done.

Now it’s been said a 1001 different ways lol.

It boggles my mind that cons think the Taliban would insure a smooth, conflict-free exit.
