Why didn't anyone bitch about it until recently? No one bitched for the first 200 years, yet now, all of a sudden, Liberals are crying, bitching and moaning.
Liberals say Trump is trying to destroy our constitution. He's not. He's just smart enough to use the constitution to his advantage. Liberals? Not so much.

I am no legal scholar nor a Constitutional expert. And I agree that the popular vote is far from meaningless.

However, I do think the system works pretty much as the founders intended. The idea was to avoid Presidents being selected solely by areas of large population. They wanted to make sure voters in smaller population areas would be heard and their concerns addressed.

Good thing they set the system up the way they did. Benjamin Franklin and his colleagues could not have foreseen the situation we have today: Generations of parasites making a living by pumping out baby after baby after baby. Seriously, are those the people you want making decisions for our entire nation??

I can play that geographic game too. Don't count the votes of Texas and Florida.

There is no way the framers of the constitution intended a system where one party routinely lost the popular vote, but kept being awarded total control of the executive branch.

There are young adults today who have no memory of the GOP ever winning the popular vote

My admission is that the constitution is the law of the land. We should know the results of an election the following day, not wait a week or month to find out.

They did the electoral college because they had to get the southern states to join the union. They knew it was flawed and against democracy. They were being practical. It was no brilliant attempt to give land votes.

Without knowing which votes are legitimate and which aren't, it doesn't tell you who the people favor.

In fact, we don't even really know what the voter turnout actually is, because of this.
