Our union was based on states being represented in DC. A popular vote would let a few heavily populated states run the entire country while states with sparse populations would have no voice in who our president was. A popular vote would unravel the union.

DT fans fell for fake news.
They got conned by the world's greatest con man of all time.
They believed something they wanted to believe, and they refused to believe the real news, because part of the con was DT told them to pay no attention to the real news. That should have been a warning signal, but they wanted to believe so badly they ignored it.
And besides, that's what all their friends were believing.
It is so much easier to just go along with the crowd instead of thinking for oneself.
Especially when it means claiming the government was fraudulent, and aided by 'horrible liberals.'
That's the problem with hatred. It clouds better judgement.
