North Carolina parents outraged over school's 'Satan Club'

It's not like the progressive students are going to join the bible studies club. What's wrong with providing them with something that makes them feel included?

You do not get to decide that for other people, anymore than a satanist has the right to decide for you that your religion has evil intent.

There are many religions that argue that the evil in the world is put here by God, and the Satan rebelled against God to help good. These religions seem silly to me, but they are defined as Satanism. It is each individuals right to decide for themselves whether to believe this or not.
sure I get to decide
It's a value judgement back by centuries of good people shunning evil

can we ban them ? of course not -but we can call them out and send them back to the gates of hell

Buddhism recognizes good and evil as well (but no gods)
Evil comes from negative actions and beliefs of human beings such as greed, anger and ignorance

Basic biblical theology says satan was the Supreme narcissist

You were the model of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God…You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God; you walked among the fiery stones. You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you. Through your widespread trade you were filled with violence, and you sinned. So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God, and I expelled you, O guardian cherub, from among the fiery stones. Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. So I threw you to earth; I made a spectacle of you before kings”
(Ezekiel 28:12–17 ).

The one entity in the Christian Bible that still somewhat confuses me is the Holy Ghost. OK, I get Father, and Son, but who is this Holy Ghost in the mix?
it's Holy Spirit in Christianity

It's the power of God over the universe -sort of like God's will but more about the divinity of God

I smell bullshit. Satan is religious and banned from public schools. What's Opie's link on this?
After school clubs not sponsored by the school are allowed, as long as they are approved by the school. There were after study Bible clubs and LBGT clubs at the High School my children attended.

Then you approve of Satan clubs for kids?
“The program does not teach about Satanism nor attempt to convert club-goers, instead they teach about rationalism and understanding the world around us. It is against the beliefs of the Satanic Temple to teach religious practice in schools, which is opposite to how the Good News Club functions.
The Satanic Temple does not worship or believe in a literal Satan, or in anything supernatural, rather, they use Satan as a symbol of freedom from the rules of right-hand path religions.”

The group of people are opposed to the establishment of an "After School Satan Club" at Joyner Elementary School, or any school in the district. Flyers advertising the Satan club were distributed last week, according to the report.

Moore said that they cannot be silent while the club attempts to make its way into the area.

"This is not a time for good men to do nothing. It’s a time to let our voices be heard," Moore said.

A website for the "After School Satan Club" states that the group meets at "select" public schools where "Good News Clubs and other religious clubs meet." It says that the clubs are set up at the request of community members who "would like to see the program offered." The club says it's "not interested in converting children to Satanism."

Trained educators provide activities and learning opportunities, which students are free to engage in, or they may opt to explore other interests that may be aided by available resources. The environment is open and parents/guardians are welcome to participate," the website states.

The club is operated by The Satanic Temple, according to the website.

"After School Satan Club" are needed to provide a "contrasting balance" to student's after-school activities, according to the website.

"The pre-existing presence of evangelical after school clubs not only established a precedent for which school districts must now accept Satanic groups, but the evangelical after school clubs have created the need for Satanic after school clubs to offer a contrasting balance to student’s extracurricular activities," the website states.

I love it!!!

The whole thing is tongue-in-cheek of course. But this is exactly what can happen when you allow one religious group to have student activities.

Yes, ma’am, I’d be there with you <3

I wish they'd had such things when I was in h.s. Our choices were shit like The ___ Club (some boring thing like English lit or the A-V group which was all guys), the stupid sports crap, 4H Club, Home-Ec club, Chess Club, etc. I did join the German Club which was cool exc. there were only four of us who all had the same class together. The only super fun thing to come out of that was a all-foreign-language-club soccer tournament. We won.

all those things are worthy endeavors
No one is saying legally ban satanists, but i sure as hell wouldn't sully my karma at that "club"

Just because it's legal doesn't mean people cant shun it.or people should join in

True. In a free country no one should feel compelled to join some group in order to have a job or whatever.

Satanists are pretty much the religious equivalent of Libertarians. They don't really worship His Nastiness, nor do they necessarily even believe that there is such a being. They're about free will, freedom, individualism, self-sufficiency. Personally I think that we'd be worse off if we were all like them, just as we'd be worse off if we all were libertarians. But we sure as Hell would be even worse off if we were living in a fundie Xtian theocracy.

Shut the fuck up you goddamned Russian Asset.

You lied about getting an unsolicited ballot because you were trying to interfere in the election you knew your guy could never win based on the merits of his policies.
