Not corrosion, but embrittlement. Think of neutrons as tiny ball peen hammers that harden and make metal brittle by pounding on it relentlessly.
Quite right. Thank you. I used the term 'corrosion' because I was responding to a twit that doesn't know what 'embrittlement' means or why it's a problem.
The effect, however, is still the same. A useless material for a reactor results that must be replaced.
